Proper Fuel for a Productive Day, Breakfast of Championsbreakfast of champions

A few weeks ago I was watching a video of Brian Tracy where he was talking about his morning routine for high productivity and was impressed at some of the similarities that we have.

Namely a good breakfast does make a difference!!!

When I go to various meetings I am always dissappointed to see that part of my registration fee is wasted on breads and pastries.  I learned years ago that these things make me want to take a nap, so I avoid them and just stick to my coffee and orange juice and let the rest of the crowd eat these tasty sleeping pills.

My friends thought that I was full of it with my theory on pastries in the morning until a few years ago when I was speaking with a psychologist about being productive despite my adhd, and he mentioned how important it was to avoid white breads as they have a tendency to block the neorons in the frontal cortex, basically making us lethargic.  He recommended doing what I had been doing, loading up on protein in the morning.

I had learned when I was young that if I really needed to perform, the best thing that I could do was force down a few eggs (when I was young I strongly disliked these things), and soon I was looking for ways to make them more palatable.

I will explore some of my methods of making the bland yet high energy egg a gormet delight in a few more blogs this month.

I enjoyed the post Bob, I am one to eat poorly in the morning. This may make me change my eating habits going forward.

Breakfast is my most important meal and I pay close attention to how I feed my body. I know one thing for sure, if I don't take care of it, it won't take care of me.

All kinds of research is being done about diet and disease prevention...mental acuity.....and breakfast is the fuel that starts the engine in the morning ...agreed !

Bob- we may be doing this out of order, but one of our favorite things to do is have breakfast, so after our morning walk, we often go to one of our favorite places for a small breakfast.  It always includes eggs of some kind.  (no white toast or pastries)

OH boy does that look tastey, especially since i haven't eaten yet today!!! I wish AR would fix the issue I am having...when I post drafts, from say a day or so ago, to today or whenever, they don't show up on the live following list/blog roll/etc that day, rather the draft/old day!! Sooo frustrating, since I have been dealing with this for a week!

I react to carbs the same way. However, knowing this I ate half a small bagel with butter and homemade peach jelly and a cup of coffee for breakfast today. UGH!

Sometimes I need a reminder to shake my cage again. Thanks!

I need to dump the cereal and go for more protein in the am too, you're right.  I have much more energy on the weekends when we do breakfast right.

Bob, now this look like a breakfast we could all dig into! I had no idea pastries and bread had this effect but I'll be sure to it avoid them in the future. Last thing I need is to be sleepy in the morning when I can be productive.

A good breakfast does a person good, but then I have to eat all day long.

Interesting Bob. I like eggs, but also like bread. Don't know that I could do eggs without the bread. Hmmm.

You said it, Bob!

"Grain" was made for animals, especially Cows, who have 4 stomachs to digest it.

I start my day with 2 eggs and meat (either poultry, fish, or beef), plus orange juice.  Yes, I eat grains (grits or toast) - but they are served as a side dish, not as the entree!

I like mine over easy, too. I agree with you all the way.  A high protein breakfast is the way to go. I always make eggs for my daughter on test days.

Sunny side up!  Three eggs for breakfast every morning and cut the carbs.  Man made carbs (bread, pasta) make me feel terrible so I get all of my carbs from fresh (preferably uncooked) veggies and fruits.  Good post.  I will look forward to reading your 'Egg Series' throughout the month.

Bob, Cereal and pastry make me hungrier so I avoid them. The protein sticks with me and make me feel more alert like you said.

Very good information.  I don,t like a lot of pastries but I do have to have toast with my eggs.  White bread is my favorite, even though I know it is not the best for you.

Bob-We have some terrible breakfast meeting habits withe the donuts and pastries. They can taste good but certainly are not that good for you on a regular basis. I try to avoid them too, like you.
