This Is the Problem with Steel Entry Doors

Steel Door dents in Sacramento caused by kicking the door.

It is important that the entry door to your home is attractive, durable, resistant to the elements, and safe. You can often times find this in a quality steel entry door but there is a down side….

Steel entry doors will dent, and there is not much you can do about it.

It looks like there must be children in that household. Otherwise someone has a temper?

Whatever did that to this steel door would probably have been worse if the same treatment had been done to a wooden door.

Great pic Tom, with that kind of dents on the outside door, I wonder how many of those hollow core inside doors had holes in them.

Ugh, that must have been quite a night.  "LET ME IN!"  "NO"  "THEN I'M KICKING THE DOOR DOWN"  Bam bam bam.

Time for a new door.

Man that one is really beat up... I would suggest a kick plate for at least the bottom 8" or so.

That is definitely a problem, Tom.  I've seen some pretty bad ones over the years.  I think #45 has a good idea.  A kick plate would be helpful.

If it's the kids denting the door, it's so hard to justify the cost to buy a new one, if they are gonna continue to do it after the new one is replaced. Just gotta get rid of the kids first. Joking!! :)

You can try and hide the dents but then a maintenance problem might arise. Probably better to replace.

Wow, I had no idea that steel doors would bring so many comments. Can't wait to post about the fiberglass doors.  :)

The steel door was at an apartment community where there were people kicking the door to get in, they will be paying for this I think.

I've heard the bondo idea before but have never seen the long term results of it.

The kick plate idea is a good one if it will cover the entire damaged area.

Whether a home or apartment is being sold or rented, this does not look good and needs to change.

Thanks for the comments.

Bondo no worko.  That's perfect Spanish.  It would require a deeper, rougher hole to adhere.  Or the end of a screw to grab on to.

Sounds like a little abuse going on at the house. When you see this much damage you have to believe that someone has a bad temper or is just straight out angry.
