I Do Remember You Calling Me

About Your Leaking Gutters in Sacramento

You have that two story home in Sacramento next to those large trees; the gutters haven’t been cleaned in over three years and have begun to rust pretty severely. It was last winter near the end of the rainy season wasn’t it?

Yes, it was toward the end of the season because after we talked the rains had stopped. I do remember calling you back when it stopped to ask if you were ready to get the gutter repaired. It was the perfect time because the weather had cleared up and we had a great opportunity to solve that water shed problem down below.

That leak was something else wasn’t it? You needed me to come out that same day because the moisture was getting into the building below. I remember how frantic you were, and how much of an emergency it was. I must have set your mind at ease because we didn’t hear back from you. Of course the rains did stop and the emergency was over.

We both know that the rusty metal gutters can’t fix themselves, you must have been planning on a summer project when the time would have made more sense. I remember thinking that you probably had the repairs done by someone else that you had found. At least it was taken care of, surely you wouldn’t want to go through that ordeal again.

You must be relieved having that taken care of with all the stormy weather in the Sacramento Region the past week. So many people have called with water intrusion problems that I have to keep my phone in the truck because I’ve spent most of the day out in the rain and can’t answer my phone.

Imagine my surprise to hear your voicemail message stating “I don’t know if you remember me, but you came out to look at my gutters a little while back…” What? That emergency was never corrected? I need to get over there to see what I can do to help with this problem?

I’m not real sure that this is an emergency, it sounds the same as last year.

If I remember correctly…

Tom, your reviews like this one just crack me up. This situation is not real common here (Tucson) but we do have sort of a rainy season. And the old leaks are still there. Imagine that.

So, did you recommend cleaning up the gutter a bit and laying one or two layers of duct tape?  I'm betting you recommended two.

Hi Tom,

I'm with Jay on this one. Two layers of duct tape is better than one. Or so I have been told. LOL

Have a good day in the Placerville areas.

Best, Clint McKie

Forget the duct tape. Foil it!. Use the foil tape, it works better and it's bright and shiny too.

First things first Jay, we have to let the gutters dry first. It would be silly to try on a wet surface right? Two is always better than one.

Two does sound like it would be twice as good as one Clint.

If they had taken care of it last year they wouldn'tmost likely have it this year. Congratulation on your Oscar. It was well deserved

Tom, amazing the same problem is present one year later, and the homeowners have not done anything about it.
