In Bloglandia Blog Post Find YOU!!!
Sometimes all you can do is laugh and try to find the silver lining, and in this case what to blog about for today FOUND me!
Most mornings I wake up, read some blog posts, check the news, start batting around blog topic choice for the day.
This morning during the usual commute, knocking around ideas as usual. Hmmm, maybe Murphy's Law and Real Estate? Or maybe another IDX custom search piece? Traffic is as usual for the time of morning, turning into the stop and go that's typical. I've got Florence & The Machine playing, some time to think, stop-go, stop-go, rinse lather repeat.
I'm at a standstill when BAM, the Miata I'm driving is jarred and I'm looking up at the side of a semi-truck feeling like Charlie the Tuna in the can as the truck tire lug nuts do a number on the side of my car! I KNOW the Miata is small, but seriously, I'm in my own lane minding my own business, STOPPED with cars lined up both in front and behind me bumper to bumper and you had to turn into me??
Fortunately there was no one in the outside ramp lane and I pulled over and off the shoulder (important, some of the traffic FLIES through there even when traffic is stop and go in all four lanes to the left). The Miata looks like:
The truck didn't stop (but I DID get the trailer number and company name before the truck was too far away to read). I got to be the next recorded hit and run case for the Ohio State Trooper on duty this morning. Hopefully this is the first AND last time I ever have to sit in the back of a cop car!
All in all, it's not what I had expected for today, but I'm not hurt, the car can be fixed, and the path to normalcy is already laid out with plans to get the car to the body shop this afternoon and get a rental car shortly after. The trucking company responsible for the driver is being responsive, so hopefully in a week or two our little blue Miata will be back better than ever! And at least for awhile, there's a semi with decorative blue paint on his right front lug nuts :)
And one more thing to be thankful for? At least is was our Miata and NOT the new SUV we bought last summer!
