There's Asking For Feedback And There's Leaving Feeback

By

And they are two very different things.

Unkind Notes at A Listing

Not all buyers have the same taste in homes and it is up to their agent to help them decide whether a property is one they want or will pass on.  It is also a buyers agent responsibility to control their client from leaving notes behind that are insulting and uncalled for.

I'm saying the culprit who left the note posted in the listing was a prospective buyer.  I don't even want to think about a Realtor® who would be so unprofessional to try this tactic.

We ask for feedback after showings. Sometimes we get it and sometimes we don't.  When we do, we filter what is said to better advise our clients on anything they may need to do to improve the chances of home sale.

Fortunately I don't think the owners saw the note as I expect they would have completely flipped.   As much as I would have liked to track down who left the note it wasn't worth the effort.  Fortunately for the owner the house sold.  So not everyone thought "your house sucks."

The person who wrote that note is obviously NOT filled with positive energy. Good thing you found the note before the sellers did.

I leave feedback with the mindset that it may well be forwwarded to the seller exactly as it reads....

It wouldn't surprise me if an agent left a note like that. Very rude and unprofessional coward no matter who left it. Don't put anything in writing that you wouldn't say face to face.

WOW i am not sure i could have let it slide. On a good note i do like how you filter the comments, i do that as well as many hurt feeling could arise for nothing especially when the home soon sells.

I have never heard of such a thing! I'm sitting here with my mouth open down to my knees! Giving feedback in the right way can be an art. But never any reason to insult anyone.

Wow!  To what end and purpose would this note serve?  I think the note says more about the author of it ... then the seller of the home, Cindy.  The things we see and hear!

How cruel is that!  I doubt the agent knew about it, or at least I hope they didn't.

"Feedback" is often a misused concept for actually wanting to know if the buyer had any further interest.  Like a fishing expedition, trying out different bait, sometimes calling for feedback really is just an excuse to call.

That's pretty childish to just say "your house sucks" and leave it there on a sticky note.  I would just throw it away and move on.

Wow that is really awful.  That is such bad taste.  I can't believe someone did that.  But, I guess they did.  I'm glad you client didn't see it.

When I see something like this, it is the equivalent of someone saying that it will never sell.  Whether they don't like the location, the price, the condition, or the smell, there is a home for everyone.  The fact that it sold to another in short order proves that point.  And you are right, it is a good thing that the seller never saw it.  How cruel for the buyer or unprofessional for the other agent...either way, rude.

Cindy, we've had one, however it was found to be left by a teenage daughter who dreaded the fact that her parents put her dream home up for sale.  Every showing had a new conspicuous message left for prospective Buyers.  Let the stakeout begin!

Yikes - that is horrible and what a tasteless thing to do. I am sure the seller would have been horribly offended if they saw it.
