Deck the Hulls | The Newport Beach Parade of Lights

The 106th Christmas Boat Parade which is hosted by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce is going to be held from December 17,2014 to December 21, 2014.  At the Christmas Boat Parade, you view beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes cruise along the Newport Beach Harbor. It is a site to be seen and the yachts are amazing, Additionally homes are decorated and it is called the Ring of Lights. Homeowners and yachts go full out with amazing decorations and lights with generators.

On the opening night of the parade on Wednesday, December 17 at approximately 6:30 pm.

If you are going to watch it,be sure to dress warm and bring something warm to drink like hot chocolate. There will be traffic so I would suggest you arrive early to get to your locale, and parking can be challenging. That is the benefit of watching the boat parade from one of the restaurants that have parking available.

Another option to view the parade, why not consider making a reservation to be on one of the boats. There are also dinner cruises available to view the parade. It is a very festive event, and it is truly amazing to view the decor.

Or if you plan on making reservations, I would recommend doing so now. Below is a list of some restaurants that you may want to consider making a reservation at.

Harborside Restaurant at the Balboa Pavillion

Joe's Crab Shack

Billy's at the Beach

Balboa Bay Club

Rusty Pelican

I will update this post as I get more photos of the boats being decorated.

Hope to see you at the Newport Beach Parade of Lights or Christmas Boat Parade.

Good morning Sharon. I'm jealous, but thanks for sharing about your boat parade. I'm sure it will be a big hit.

Good morning Sharon. When I lived in Florida I used to love to go down to the docks and see the different boats decorated in all of their Christmas attire. It was quite the sight see. Your picture brings back a lot of memories.

Sharon, nothing like a Christmas Lights boat parade in the warmer climates. I have seen some owners go all out! Enjoy your day.

Hi Sharon: A Christmas Boat Parade should be fun to watch. It will make the dark night in the horizon full of colorful bright lights in different shapes. It would be just lovely and lively.

Sharon Paxson I think this event would be spectacular!  We would not see this here, with no water.    Bet those boats/yachts/ships are decked out to impress all!

That's cool, a Christmas Boat parade. There is a difference when talking cold, however,  For our Christmas parade they expect temps in the mid 30's. What would be cool in Newport Beach CA, 50's?

Hi there. We have the Christmas Ship parade on the Columbia River - and as Carla mentions - it's pretty cool. ;) I love these events and the lights sparkling off the surface of the water makes it even more stunning.

Hi Sharon, I remember the boat parade.  Some people go all out on decorating and lighting up their boats.

Would love to see a boat parade, however that's not likely to happen in our area! We did find a "drive thru" Christmas light display that we are planning to visit!
