Tristan Gasset chosen for The Best Players in USSSA

Barbara Todaro :) Thanks so much. I always tease Tristan because he wants to play for his favorite team which is the Yankees ( yuck) so I say to him, he is going to get an offer he can not refuse from the San Francisco Giants so I can move back home to watch all his home games:). The Yankees are a great team historically, no doubt. I am just not a fan of their team and I don't want to live near that part of the country when he gets drafted.

Jimmy Williams (352) 874-2354  I enjoy sharing his growth in baseball. He is a great player and we are blessed that he is our son. He is very serious and a very mature mental player of the game unlike the other kids his age.

Beth Atalay  Thanks! He did not even start playing baseball until near his 8th birthday. He only had one season of coach pitch before he was pitching as a 9 year old way ahead of the pack. 

Lise Howe  I love being the mother of a baseball player! I hated baseball growing up, never got into the MLB but all that changed when my son showed the talent that he has in baseball.  I also learned some lessons. We homeschool. So when he was almost 8 he told his dad he wanted to be a major league basball player. He had never picked up a glove or a bat at that point. However, he knew everything about the game because his uncle explained it all to him. He was able to mentally know the game before physically playing it which is a huge reason why he is so mentally mature in the game, way ahead of other kids his age. Well, I told Nestor that was going to be his area since I did the academics. I did not even go to watch him play at first. Then Tristan asked me one day, " are you going to go to my game"? I then saw that I needed to support him even though I was with him all day doing other things. I would go to the game but work on my phone. I still did not like to watch baseball. I thought it was so boring. At one of the games he came up to me and asked me. " are you ever going to watch my games?" I started watching and found myself falling in love with the game of baseball!!! I LOVE watching him play.

Frank Rubi Yes, the USSSA is a very competitive organization! We are super proud. The newspaper called to interview Tristan and is writing a story about him! I will scan it and post it. 

Joe Petrowsky  The Baseball Factory did an evaluation on him and said that his batting stance was excellent, excellent form and mechanics but that his pitching mechanics were the most superior they have seen even among older teens. The only thing he needs is more arm speed and more leg strength which will come as he grows. 

Lise Howe  That is such an awesome story!!! Thanks for sharing it! Tristan is homeschooled but here in Florida the law says that homeschoolers are allowed to play on the public school teams if they make the tryouts, Tristan did and he now plays for the district middle school. It is exciting to see them grow. Nestor is coaching his Little League team this season.
