Do I Fool or Do I Joke?
It is the first day of April…. April 1…. better known as April Fool’s Day. I’ve read various origins for the day, one dating back to Chaucer.
But does it really matter who or where it began? The point is, today is the one day that we are able to, make that, encouraged to fool someone.
My earliest memory of April Fool’s Day was when I was a kid, I can remember my dad waking me up one morning telling me that it was snowing outside. Mind you, I’m from Houston and I can count on one hand the number of times I saw it snow there. Nevertheless, I hopped out of bed, ran to the window and what did I see?
No snow!!
Do you fool? Do you joke? Are you a prankster?
or… Do you abstain?
Me? I am a prankster from way back. Nothing ever malicious, just plain fun.
I have to admit that I once sent (via UPS) a frozen fish to a friend; removed all of the underwear from our good friend’s honeymoon luggage (I had put it all in a beautifully wrapped gift which I said they were not to open until the next day) and booby trapped (with help from my friends) their home when they returned.
Reputation and self-preservation prevent me from saying more.
So what about you?
