Mother's Day can bring joy to our mom's and maternal friends or sometimes just memories in Bronxville, NY 10708
For most, Mother's Day is a time to celebrate our biggest fan and maternal guide...our Mom. Other dear friends of mine in Westchester County and beyond have lost their mothers, years ago or just in recent years.
Some of us may have that dreaded mother / daughter dynamic in play or just live far away from each other. While others may have been raised in part by a grandmother, who is no longer on the planet, in my case. Grandma Jean passed in 2011 at 93 years old from Alzheimers. Her daughter and my aunt was also a huge motherly influence on me. She was my "big sister" from birth really, but from the age of 16 up when I moved in with them. Carol is gone as well -- at only 57 years old. So, I think of all the "Moms" in my life...past and present...at this time each year.
It doesn't really matter if our mom is a loving memory, or today, is a mother-in-law, like Sara Sheperd, or a stepmom and even our best, mildly more mature "girlfriend." In all cases, we can embrace their, hopefully, unconditional love in our lives.
Whoever your mom is, I hope that you can share flowers and fun and perhaps a brunch with them this weekend.
Cheers!
