Not Looking  For Your Referrals

 

 

 This post was inspired by yet another telemarketing call promising me hundreds of referrals.

I would much rather earn my referrals rather than pay for them.

 

Don't get me wrong, I would be happy to help you, your family or your favorite client here in the Baltimore area but I am not looking for your referrals.

 Buyers and sellers come from my blogging, from my networking,  from my print media, from my past clients,  from my friends & friends of my friends  and from my radio show.  My goal is to keep my own pipeline full. 

 

What if the Internet went down? Would I still have clients?

What if  blogging stopped? Would I still have clients?

What if  print media closed shop? Would I still have clients?

What if there was no weekly radio show? Would I still have clients?

 

 I think so. 

 

Especially with  word of mouth, past clients, friends, networking and the use of the telephone...I would still have clients calling to sell their property.

 

But I am

Margaret, when I get those calls I ask the telemarketer if they would like to buy some of my leads since I have more than I can handle...they're not sure what to say. Yes, my referrals also come from much the same sources as yours except for print (which is pretty much dead here) and, of course, I don't have a radio show although I did do commercials a few years ago when I was at a big box brokerage.

Word-of-mouth is what got me on my feet as a NEWBIE realtor! I also typed up a newsletter and sent it to my mailing list from my husband's working list as a former President of the HOA. 

Good for you! I don't pay for referrals as they have NO IDEA what my niche is! Don't need 'em, and I'd rather spend the money on charities that are those my clients love INSTEAD. Pay it forward!
