A Capuchin Franciscan priest from Arizona helped to celebrate Masses in Stevens Point this weekend as he prepared for his Pre Mercy Marathon Parish Mission this week.

Give up one extra thing this Lent... Worry.
Let God take over our worries and spend the time that we would normally spend on worry to get closer to God through prayer and reflection.
I like this idea and I will concentrate on doing this.
I thought about writing up something about what he will be sharing during the mission but after reading his introduction I did not think that I could write it any better, so here it is direct from his website.
Parish Renewal - Recalculating
Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, is calling us to be part of a New Evangelization in the Catholic Church. Put simply, God needs us to do our part, as baptized members of the Church, to bring the word of mercy, peace and reconciliation to the world! This is what our Parish Renewal is about.
- Our first evening will celebrate God’s awesome and never-tiring love for me and for all of us, no matter who we are or what we have done or not done, so far, with our lives. The New Evangelization begins with God’s love for us and the world.
- Our second evening recognizes that we are not perfect, that we have and will continue to make mistakes, that sin and suffering are alive in our lives. But they are not the last word. Grace, healing, forgiveness is because God loves us and Christ came to break the chains of sin and offer us a new vision.
- Our third evening celebrates our thanks to God and our commitment to be part of the New Evangelization, simply by showing mercy and forgiveness to others, by giving thanks to God for everything God has done and is doing in our lives. We witness to God’s mercy and love in and through our lives we evangelize.

Brother Bill Cieslak has been a Capuchin for forty-seven years and a priest for thirty-eight years. He spent the first twenty-five years of ministry teaching liturgy and sacraments at the Franciscan School of Theology, Berkeley, CA and the Graduate Theological Union.
The past six years he served as Provincial Director of Development for the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, and in July, 2011 became Director of the Office of Preaching and Evangelization.
Fr. Bill preaches and teaches every month (except the summer) at the Franciscan Renewal Center, Scottsdale, AZ. He would characterize his presentations as Scripture based, passionate and motivational, from a Franciscan theological and spiritual perspective.
