"Our cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind!"

George Washington

As a REALTOR® we have a noble cause and that cause is helping people achieve the American Dream of Home Ownership.  We work everyday toward this ideal and fight hard to help our clients own a piece of the pie.  I for one applaud what is being done for those that are eager to have their dream home.

I once had the opportunity to hear Richard Mendenhall, past NAR President,  make a very profound statement.  He said "if you want to stop terrorism in the world sell them a house".  You see not all people in the world have that opportunity.  This is, IMHO, a real shame.

George Washington may not have been talking about home ownership but, I would agree with him, "Our Cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind".

That's interesting, Don.  I've never thought about the fact that a lot of the world can not own a home.

Ron, thank you for stopping by and commenting.  Think about the dictatorships, and the communist countries where the state owns all of the property and then think about the 3rd world countries.

A great read is The Mystery of Capital by Hernando DeSoto.  He discusses the fact that private property rights do not exist in many countries and that until there is homeownership and protection of property rights, those economies will not flourish.

Don - great post!  I have been in many parts of this world and, yes, there are many, many locations where people do not own homes.  This is a privilege and a dream for many - I am extremely proud to be a part of it!

Leesa, thank you for stopping by and commenting.  I think that sometimes for those that have not had an opportunity to travel outside the U.S. it is hard to believe this.  We do have a GREAT privilege here.
