The other day as we were driving home, there were dark and foreboding clouds ahead. They seemed to signal more than the usual South Florida afternoon thunderboomers. I had a feeling these contained heavy rain, lightning and strong winds.
Ugh! It’s not like I’m not used to this. I grew up in Houston...rain, flooded streets, hurricanes. It’s just that, when I can, I try to avoid situations that may not bode well for me.
So, being the avoider of bad things, I opted to make a turn away from the dark and foreboding area. One right turn and I looked up and there were blue skies with some puffy white clouds. I was still headed towards my destination, I just took a different route.
(Where is she going with this...you ask?)
Well, I’m getting there. It reminded me that we all have choices that we can make. If the road ahead looks a little bumpy, look around for another way.
Sometimes the choices we have may not include the blue skies and puffy white clouds. We may not like what we see.
But it is a choice, and it’s always your choice.
Inspiration is highly overrated. If you sit around and wait for the clouds to part, it's not liable to ever happen.
More often than not, work is salvation.
