Moving To FLORIDA? Where To Live In Orlando? How to Choose the Right City when Moving from Another State
Thousands of people are moving to Central FL each year and if you are reading this post, you might also be thinking about leaving the cold and snow behind. There’s no better time to move than now, don’t wait for another cold winter to pack up. Once you’ve made the decision to move, it's time to plan.
Some choose Florida for it's weather, for some, it's a job transfer, others become snowbirds and call FL their home away from home only part of the year. Whatever brings you to Sunshine State, planning your move is crucial. Where do you begin? How do you decide what part of Florida will be the best fit? Do you want to be in the suburbs? How about being on the water? Ohh..the Theme Parks that you visit year after year! Gulf Coast, East Coast, West Coast, Miami, West Palm Beach, Orlando...you have many choices.
If it's a job transfer, then, you really don't have a choice in the city but if it's not, I suggest making a list of what's important to you.
-Schools
-Being in the suburbs
-Close to Theme Parks
-In Central Florida
-Home with acreage
-Lakefront Home
-City Living
-Condo on the beach
-Close to the beaches
Above are just a few examples of how you can narrow your search. If being in a certain school district is a top priority, you may follow this link Great Schools Florida to check school ratings.
It's important to compare prices between your current location and the area you wish to move to. I can't tell you how many calls I receive on a regular basis from those who are looking to move and think they can buy a waterfront, newer home with a pool under $100,000. I can tell you, it doesn't exist in Clermont FL. Real estate is very local, while I can't speak for other areas in FL, I recommend talking to a local real estate agent rather than "googling".
One great fact about Florida is we don not have State Tax. Nobody knows your budget and what you are able to afford than you, do your homework rather than asking friends and Google.
Planning a week or a two-week visit to the area is always recommended. Drive around, talk to residents, business owners, check the county websites. Joining groups online is always good as a starting point but, please remember, everyone's acceptable/good/beautiful/not so good is different. However, you can ask questions and talk to those who already made the move or on planning stages.

Can you handle the heat? I moved from New York twenty-two years ago and that was the question then and it still is. I can tell you one thing, I could not and would not want to handle the cold and snow. Hottest months are June through September averaging in the 90’s and if you can handle that, you will be a happy camper all year long.
It’s an area where you can participate in plenty of outdoor activities from boating by either using the public marinas or your own private one to biking or jogging on the trail that extends from Clermont to Winter Garden. The National Training Center has attracted thousands of athletes to the area since it’s opening in 2001. Bike riders choose the area mainly for it’s rolling hills.
As a resident, you will about a 30 minute drive from Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World.
Closest beaches are Daytona and Cocoa Beach and on the Gulf coast which requires a longer travel would be Clearwater and St Pete Beach.
