Last week I wrote  about a Unique house and a unique feature.

Bomb Shelter Margaret Rome

Below is where this door, above, leads.

Inside Bomb shelter

Nope, I did not venture down but one of the buyer's agents went exploring with her client and here is the photo she took down in the bunker.

This bomb shelter has produced a lot of comments from prospective buyers about how it would be used. I have heard everything from a man cave, a play area, wine cellar, dark room (well yeah it is), extra storage space, a getaway place and I am sure I will hear many more. The sellers used to play down there when they were little kids.

With a bit of research, I found this story of a family who found this

fully stocked bunker intact.

How would you use this space?

I'd use it as a potato seller.  I've actually been wishing I had something like this to store our produce over the winter.  I've been thinking about digging a hole in our backyard for it!  Potatoes, onions, beets, any other produce we grow that would last over the winter.  We just used our last onions and we were just storing them in the garage, so a plae like this would be awesome!  But I might also be a little bit scared of going down there...claustrophobia and what not..

That's pretty cool that the family you linked basically found a time capsule in their shelter!

A root cellar would be perfect...like your idea.

During the cold war in the 1950s and 1960s, a few folks built bomb shelters. What amazes me from the pictures, was the amount of chocolate syrup, jelly beans, and sweet things they packed away.

Myrl Jeffcoat There were a lot of sweet comfort foods packed back then.

Wow, that was a cool story in the link.

I don't know what I'd use that space for, but there are quite a few possibilities...

Wine cellar?

Kat Palmiotti I liked the linked article also. Wine cellar but get your wine out before you drink.

I think that a fallout shelter will soon be back in fashion so it is a real amenity.

Joe Pryor Some may look at it as an amenity.

Margaret I've heard of the bunkers that nobody even knows are on a property.

A wine cellar sounds like a perfect use for it.  Or it could be storage for kids toys.

Chris Ann Cleland Thanks for stopping by. It is  not real easy getting in and out. You better be sober either way.
