This is a photo from a live out door performance in the town of Hamelin, Germany. Every Sunday in the summer months, the legend of the Pied Piper who comes to town to rid the towns people of a major rat infestation is put on stage and hundreds of people gather to watch the tale unfold.
I took this photo a couple of years back during a visit to this beautiful town that has a bit of a medieval look where you can still find many old buildings with exposed truss construction built along cobblestone streets.
If you don't know the story, you can watch some snippets of the Pied Piper Open Air performance.
The story of the Pied Piper has a sinister ending. And like so many old tales, there is a message to the reader or listener hidden in the story that took a sad turn when the the good people of Hamelin decided to bargain in ill faith.
Although initially grateful for getting rid of the rodents, the people quickly turned on the Pied Piper and did not want to pay the agreed upon price and even chased the Piper out of town.
Bargaining in ill faith did not pay off for them in the end. So what is the moral of the story as it relates to real estate? I can think of a couple:
- Make sure to pay the pest control man!
- If in doubt, stick to the contract than spells out the responsibility of each party, and lastly,
- don't be like the people of Hamelin, pay the piper!
I hope you enjoyed the story behind the photo and maybe it has inspired you to do some travelling on your own!
However, if you would rather explore the real estate market in the Spring Hill or Hernando Beach, Florida areas, please contact me and it will be my pleasure to assist you with your questions.
