12 Days of Thanksgiving 2017 - Challenge by Debbie Reynolds

Happy Thanksgiving To All
This time of year, we are prepared to get some crisp nights with temps below 32º. We prepare to cover the plants for the winter and bring inside those special plants that can't handle freezing temps. Soon my spider plant will be inside!
Unseasonable Weather
However, it has been warmer than normal and we have a Thanksgiving where the leaves are not ready to fall. The leaves are turning color but Thanksgiving will come and go. Yesterday, it was around 80º! My husband was outside putting up lights in a t-shirt! We will probably enjoy our outside patios and garden area through the weekend.
Our Seasons
Besides the beautiful Fall Season, we get a mild winter with snow. But the low humidity and lack of freezing temps keep ice at bay. It may get below 32º in early morning but there have only been 2 days where the temp stayed below freezing for the whole day. Most days are over 50º, requiring a light jacket or sweater.
Spring lasts from early February through mid June. The hottest weather is in June not August! Monsoon cools the hot weather down. Summer is also mild in comparison to other areas of the country. There are usually less than 90 days total over 90º. The key for me is ...NO HUMIDITY! You just don't get uncomfortable because of humidity.
Red Rocks
We have trails through Red Rock country that go on for miles and miles. The red rocks surround us from all angles and it makes you feel blessed to be able to enjoy this scenery.
Tourism
I have only touched on the wonderful things that Sedona has to offer. Visitors and tourists alike come here during every season to enjoy our art, restaurants, outdoor activities and the like. Our Sedona population swells from 10,000 residents to 50,000 with visitors on any given day. Visitors are the lifeblood of our economy and we are thankful for them. Some may not be able to navigate the round-abouts very well but normally it is not an issue. Occasionally, a tourist may stop their car right in the middle of the road to take a picture of a rock or an animal so we need to be prepared for the unexpected.
