2017 Patriotic Corvette StingRay

"You have to find that thing about you

that distinguishes you from all others, and through

true talent, hard work, and passion,

anything can happen." --- Dr. Dre

CLASSIC

This 2017 Patriotic Corvette StingRay on display at Parkers Square in Flower Mound, TX, recently got me thinking about what motivates people? Clearly, the owner of this beautiful cherry red, fire engine red, or real red Corvette StingRay had a clear perception of style and the impact it has on others. In my mind, the true color here is assertiveness because the owner, a United States Coast Guard Retiree from Frisco, illustrated style, personality, attitude, his values, and talent.

PERFORMANCE

Performance makes the difference between mediocrity and excellence. The subject of motivation always comes up when you hear about leadership. What drives some people further along in life than others? While looking at this car, I was reminded of the day I got my Driver's License. I was so excited! However, as I sat behind the wheel of the car, before the Instructor gave me my papers showing I passed, he said something to me that I never forgot. "This isn't just a car. It's a weapon. If you don't know what you're doing behind the wheel, you can kill someone." My smile faded in an instant. It was in that moment I realized, in order to enjoy my car, or have a higher standard of living than having to ride the bus, bicycle, or walk to places I wanted to go, I had to practice excellence.

"Do you know great minds enjoy excellence,

average minds love mediocrity and small minds

adore comfort zones?" --- Onyi Anyado

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE

Performance that is merely satisfactory is never acceptable. Whether it has anything to do with style, skill, talent, or duties the expectation by the consumers or the general public is, anyone with leadership to serve as an example to others by performace must be at a high level of excellence that must exceed expectations. Whatever license one holds the person who has the duty must convey trust, competence, an attitude that others are important, talent to outshine the competition, and high performance which always excels when there is excellence.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - True! That's how I got started writing, based on inspiration from people, places, and things I got to see! Inspiration is everywhere! You don't have to be in a classroom to learn. And we learn from each other. Isn't life grand!

The car really showcases the brand of this man's personality and passions. Isn't that interesting?  I've often thought cars make subtle statements about people - and at least, cars can convey a perception.  With that said, I too appreciate the inspiration behind this post - and the message. Strive to excel.

Love the car and how you tied it in with your post, Patricia! Great points and what wonderful points about excellence. Satisfactory is never acceptable...nor should it be!

Hope you're having a terrific Thursday!

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I think people often forget that a vehicle is also an investment. Just like a home, an automobile has to be maintained, perform with excellence, and everyone who comes into contact with the vehicle of transportation has to feel confident that the licensee knows what they are doing to keep it safe and cause no harm.

In case of accident, the judge and jury will have a perception and that will determine what happens next. I'm very happy to know you appreciate the inspiration that went along with my post. I work hard on providing what I deem is excellent content.

Thank you!

Well, you know I love your writing, Patricia.

As for high standards - I have them but, I beat myself up terribly if I feel like I don't achieve them!

Good morning Patricia. The car is pretty out there for me but I recognize the effort and the product. I think the analogy holds and I like your quotes.

Sheila Anderson - I can appreciate that you recognize there has to be a balance between the effort and the product which meets the need of the consumer. Ultimately, if the consumer doesn't buy, business will flounder or go away.

Thanks, Sheila!

I love anything about Texas!  TAMU grad here.  Lived in Houston and Austin.  Designed a lot of houses before moving to Orlando.

Love Vets and Vettes!  Cool.  Thanks for the post and inspirational explanation!

John Henry - TAMU grads will always have a lot to be proud of! You have gone from Houston to Austin; then on to Orlando. You're eyes have seen it all and your design applications are still thriving here in TX. What an honor it is to meet you on this virtual basis here on ActiveRain.

My heart belongs to Vets and I love Vettes too! I did get to drive one once and it made me feel so different and special! I'm glad you liked this post and it's great meeting you here on ActiveRain! All the best to you in Orlando and wherever the roads take you.
