Fog Fest, Pacifica CA -- one day remains

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

Pacifica, California, is a beach town just south of San Francisco. It's near enough to hop on BART and be in downtown SF in just a few minutes, yet it still savors it's small-town feel. People often think "fog" when they think of Pacifica, but residents rejoice in it and celebrate annually with their Fogfest, which began in 1986 as a celebration of the town and beautiful coast.

Fogfest 2018 started September 29 and will continue one more day, Sunday, September 30.

Check out the list of activities and head over to Palmetto Avenue in Pacifica tomorrow for a fun-filled day, whether in fog or in sun. Dress in layers and enjoy what the day has in store.

Lottie, Fog Fest sounds like a great time. Your photos are beautiful. The small town feel would be very appealing to me.

Good morning, Nina Hollander - yes, the fog can be magical. Interestingly in San Francisco itself, some areas get more fog than others, due to the hills I believe. I can be enjoying sun at my place, yet need a sweatshirt/coat just a mile or 2 away.

Happy Sunday, Amanda S. Davidson - Pacifica is so very close to San Francisco, yet the small town feel is definitely there. Diversity adds to the specialness of the area.

Hi Debbie Reynolds - so close to SF yet so very tranquil. I've just listed a townhouse here in one of my favorite complexes; looking forward to bringing it on the market around November 1.

Lottie Kendall - I never heard of Fog Fest but what a GREAT idea! The times I was in CA, I never saw fog. However, when I lived in New England, it was common and I found those were the best times for me to take photographs. I'm not a bragger, but I have taken some amazing fog photos, i.e., a bride (full long wedding dress and veil) walking by herself up to the Portland Head Lighthouse in the fog. She's the only human in the photo and I don't even know why she was walking up there, but it makes a really cool photo!

I always love your photographs. Whether you take them in CA or trips around the world, you have a good eye for the camera and you always capture beauty in the most impressive way. These two that you posted shows off the landscape very well. It must be very exciting to live in San Francisco, near Silicon Valley. My first trip to CA was SF and Silicon Valley and I have so many favorable memories. At the time, I was living in Chicago and when I got to San Francisco, I really did leave my heart in San Francisco, perhaps at the bottom of the hill on Lombard Street? I went to Hewlett Packard in the late 1970's and met Dave Packard, but I didn't know who he was. He was just some guy inside his office and I was hungry, so I knocked on his door and asked him if he knew of a good place to eat. He was most welcoming and invited me inside. We talked quite a long time about good food, wine, and how lovely Silicone Valley was. Then my husband (who ditched me to do some work) thought he lost me and found me inside Dave Packard's office. He was mortified and embarrassed, and kept apologizing to Dave (by that time Dave and I were on a first name basis).

Have a nice day!

Patricia Feager - what a great story about you and Dave Packard. It reinforces my thought that successful people, people who are comfortable with themselves, are down to earth, kind, and without undo ego.

And I would LOVE to see your photo of the bride in the fog - I have a picture in my mind.....

Lottie Kendall - What you said about successful people is very wise and true!

I would have to hunt that photo down first and when I do, I'll be glad to share it with you! Thank you for asking!

Hello Joan Cox - much to my surprise, this is the view to which I woke this morning; very rare in my part of The City. By 9:00AM I could see Ft. Mason at the water's edge; by 11:00 the bay view with Angel Island and points beyond were clear. It was quite a surprise; wonder what I'll wake to tomorrow?

Surprising fog
