Thankful Thursdays...You Can Say That Again!

Many of us here subscribe to the glass half full view of life. For me, it’s the only way I know how to function. Bad things happen but I have always foundthankful it helpful to look for the sunshine in the clouds in the sky.

Wednesday, we were in the Emergency Room of Delray Medical Hospital by 6:30 in the morning. Larry was feeling odd, was nauseated and was having trouble maintaining his consciousness. I called 911 and quickly grabbed phones, chargers, and water.

Everything checked out with Larry after they arrived but they decided to proceed to the hospital and I followed in the car.

After the usual bloodwork, CT Scans, etc and after they felt he would be all right, we were home by 10 am. He was a little dehydrated, but we have an appointment with his cardiologist. (There is a long background story but Larry has 3 stents and each time he did not present with the typical heart-related symptoms.)

So this post is about being thankful, and that I am.

1.Extremely thankful that Larry is all right!

2. I am forever thankful and grateful for our friend, Vic, who came over immediately and brought coffee and bagels. I knew that his presence would brighten Larry’s spirit.

3. I am thankful to be a part of an extremely large-hearted group of women...the moderators of the group Bananatude.

It was my day to moderate but had to ask for a help with it!  All chimed in with offers of encouragement. Thank you Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886

Beth Atalay Carol Williams Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD Hannah Williams Patricia Feager Susan Haughton

4. Not that I would have wished Hurricane Michael on anyone, but I am thankful that we did not have to try racing to the ER during a hurricane.

5. Only true coffee lovers will get this but we had to send our Jura automatic coffee machine away for repair and it was delivered yesterday. As it required a signature for delivery, someone had to be home to sign for it.

Larry and I laughed while waiting for the doctor, trying to make lemonade out of lemons. "Thank goodness the coffee maker was delivered yesterday or no one would have been home to sign for it."

PostScript… Larry has been poked, prodded, and scanned and knock wood, everything seems to be ok for now.

And, by the way...as organized as I think I am...I totally forgot to grab a pair of shoes for Larry. Poor guy had to leave the hospital in his socks.

thankful

What a great post full of thanks, and I am glad that Larry is okay. That's awesome about the socks, no shoes. No big deal, I'm sure he made it home fine, bare feet and all. Who really thinks about remembering shoes at a time like that anyway? Hope your Thursday goes well Kathy. -Kasey

Hi Kathy-Glad Larry is OK but follow up is a good idea. I had a E.R. visit in April and it was scary. Come to find out it was vertigo. Thankful everything was OK and if I ever have symptoms like that again I know what to do.

Hi Wayne Martin We both had a good laugh about forgetting his shoes. It had just rained here so I drove the car up so his tootsies didn't have to get too wet.

William Feela This was not his first trip to the ER but the first in an ambulance.

Barbara Todaro you are so right about that. When Vic walked in, Larry perked up and they both started kidding each other like they always do.

Carol Williams We don't know for sure but all of this vitals, blood work, tests were good. However, in the past when he needed a stent, his vitals and everything were ok as well.  He's having another test soon.

Michael Jacobs And those socks have rubber skid strips on them.

Brian England I hope that your dad is doing well. I remember the first time I drove him, the whole experience was scary. We were lucky because our good friend is a nurse at the hospital and came to check on him.

Hannah Williams Thank you so much!!! Oh yes, I needed that cup of coffee our friend brought and Larry needed to see him.

Grant Schneider This is a reminder that our health is worth so much more than material things.

Patricia Feager Thank you so much for your support and care. You know, I once went to a metaphysicist who told me that Larry had been married to each other in 3 of our previous lives. I can't vouch for that but he is my best friend and my love.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® totally count my blessings for the many friends in person and virtually that I have. I never feel alone.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel It was so funny because I was looking under his bed for his shoes and all around the room for them. It never occurred to me that he left the house without them!!!

Oh, Kathy, I'm so sorry he had a scare - and I know it's not easy being you in those situations. You hope and pray that they listen to you and take your observations to heart - like he never presented before as a normal heart patient does.

Friends like Vic make these times so special - I know you're ever so grateful for him and his lifting Larry's spirits.

And, I have to say (and I'm sure Larry will agree), shoes or no shoes, it's good to be going HOME!

I'm so happy to hear he is okay and home - and YOU TOO! Hugs, Kathy!
