Real Estate Agent Blogs - Chickens, Goats and Keywords

Just to clear something up right away, I am not seeking business, nor am I even available to help any agents at this time. I just want to clear something up about .... keywords.

Every "SEO guru" in the world will tell you how important keyword research is for your blogs and  blah blah blah. Any keyword research tool will tell you that you should write about cities and neighborhoods.

I have a good friend who is a top producer and has around 75 listings at any given time. Sometimes, I help him shoot YouTube videos for his blogs. The articles which have gotten the most traction are about local happenings which outsiders are curious about. The articles which have gotten him the most business are about chickens, goats, pecan trees, pumpkins, hunting, dog kennels and lakes.

As you can tell, we're in a rural area. Pittsboro, North Carolina, to be exact. People relocate to the Raleigh, Druham, Chapel Hill area from another state, then 5 or 10 years later they move here. They like Pittsboro since it's only 20 minutes from the big city, yet it's rural.

And they want chickens.

Not all neighborhoods in our area allow chickens. People can opt for a neighborhood with large acreage tracts which allow chickens or they can go outside of the town and get unrestricted land.

ALL of the potential buyers want to know if they can have chickens. They also want to know if a nearby nuclear power plant will affect their property values. We've put together articles about goats - people around here love their goats. And, finally, lots and lots of people want to be able to hunt in their own backyard and shoot guns. Other people want to make sure they're away from gunfire, and even more people want to avoid chicken processing plants, and, nobody wants to live near someone who has a dog kennel full of barking dogs.

These are the topics which come up that people are asking.

This is the information they can't get on Zillow.

This is the content that produces clients.

Why do I not help more agents? Well, I personally mostly work with attorneys. Law firms need blogs too. That, and, I probably do not know your area like you do.

I know, I know, you have enough to do. But, if you're going to spend your time creating content, forget the keywords, and write about questions people moving to your are are asking. They want to know where they can fish, where they can swim, which neighborhoods allow dogs, and they want to know if they can have a flock of chickens.
