Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Animal Care And Control Shelter At Over-Capacity. Please Help By Adopting A Shelter Pet
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Division's (CMPD) Animal Care and Control shelter is at over-capacity and in desperate need of more space in their kennels. The CMPD's Animal Control and Care Division is asking Charlotte residents to come in to the shelter and provide a fur-ever home to one of the shelter's "residents."
The need is so great, CMPD put out a press briefing earlier this week asking for Charlotte residents to help with pet adoption to relieve the over-crowding conditions in the shelter.
If you've been thinking about adopting a pet, please consider going over to the CMPD Animal Care and Control Shelter for a "no oblibation meet & greet." Adoption fees have been waived for now, but there is a small license fee in Mecklenburg County to own a pet. But you can also "shop" for your new fur-ever friend on-line: DOGS, CATS, OTHER. If you're planning to adopt a dog, please bring a collar and leash; for adoption of a cat, please bring a carrier.
The CMPD Animal Care and Control Shelter is located at 8315 Byrum Drive in Charlotte. The shelter is open Mondays through Fridays from 11:00 am till 7:00 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm. The Shelter's phone number is: 704-336-7600.
