Huntsman World Senior Games Welcomes 11,000+ Athletes in 2019!
Running October the 7th thru October the 19th, 2019, the Huntsman World Senior Games in the St. George, Utah area welcomes athletes 50 years and older from all over the world. People come from the 50 states and 34 different countries to compete in 30 sports venues.
The largest group is softball with over 350 teams, followed by volleyball with approximately 200 teams. The games were founded in 1987 by John and Daisy Morgan, who wanted to fill hotel rooms in St. George, Utah by bringing in an event fostering world peace, health and friendship.
Opening ceremonies take place on Tuesday, the 8th of October, 2019 at the Dixie State University Legend Solar Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the parade of athletes starts at 6:30 p.m.
Featuring a parade of athletes, singing, dancing, the cauldron lighting and fireworks plus three-time Olympic gold medalist in women's softball, Leah Amico will offer inspiration and insights to what it takes to be a champion.
