Shake and Bake, OK it is not a recipe from the Gourmet Realtor in Los Angeles…rather it is about another earthquake in Los Angeles!!!
Last night, we were having dinner at home and low and behold there was a Shaker… It got the attention not only of me and Diane, but two out of the four of our animals. The time was around 7:58 pm, in case you are wondering, this is usually when we are in the beginning or middle of our evening meal, depending on how the animal feeding goes.
This was a good one, ten miles from our home in Carson, CA the Google App reported that it was a 4.7 shaker. I said to Diane, don’t worry, they usually downgrade it after a few hours. Sure, enough it was downgraded to a 4.5 shaker.
Gratefully we were far enough away that all it did was make my CD player shake and skip and scratch one of my CD’s.
We continued enjoying our meal and I reminded her of the day we arrived in Los Angeles there was a 3.2 and it got her attention… now here we are a 4.5 far enough away just makes us want to focus on getting our Earthquake Kit updated.
Just to be clear not only did we not update it, but I also even failed to blog about it last night. Clearly, we are getting complacent. Here in Los Angeles, those of us who have been here a while always consider October as “Shake & Bake October” the temperatures rise and so do the frequency of earthquakes. Now with that said I was wondering it was only September 17th, 2021…Hmmm…. what does this mean?
Now with that said here are seven steps that might be beneficial when the next earthquake occurs:

As far as I am concerned number TWO is the most important one. Here is the link if you do not want to read the rest

As you can imagine there are other things we focus on, because that is how life is. For example, today I spilled a glass of Bordeaux while I was cooking, and we had a bigger focus not only on the cleanup but on the inconvenience. Now gratefully yesterday nothing happened. So, putting things in perspective we were worked up about the small problem and ignored the bigger problem: Spending time to update our emergency evacuation plan.
I am confident we were not the only ones in Los Angeles that had misplaced priorities. Yes, hopefully there is always tomorrow.
