This flag's location will not mean anything to any of you unless you work for
CliniComp, Intl. in Technology Park, UTC - San Diego, CA?
But, it's meant a lot (sentimentally) to me for over 15 years and here's why...
I can hear the clanking of the brass mounting rings for about a couple blocks ahead, as I'm hiking towards it and again as I hike away from it. It signals my daily walk has begun or come to an end and is like an old friend I can count on.
Peroni 12/26/2012-02/24/2021 RIP Mr. Whiskey 02/24/2022 - Good Long Life Ahead
When I can't get in a 3 miles or longer hike, this urban trail served and serves as a quick 1.5 miles for both my dear-departed Mr. Peroni and now, a year later, his cute successor Mr. Whiskey a Go-Go!
It's an odd constant, a familiar sound that many may ignore or take for granted, but to me it's like mom's dinner bell or the church bells on Sunday - it's calming and comforting...and it serves as a trigger to hundreds of hiking memories and yes-conversations with my dear Mr. Peroni.
