I see so many real estate agents and Realtors send out the worst newsletters. Marketing is all about getting people to read your info instead of throwing it out. Many Realtor newsletters will show a few listings and put a short blurb about something in their newsletter. Or that they sold 13 million dollars last year. But what does that mean to the consumer? What are you giving your client?
I send out a homemade newsletter. It is a little hokey but is like my blog. It is about me, about the area, and about things people want to know about. Mine takes time and I only send out 4 a year but the response I get from it is incredible. Whether I am at a party, or wedding I get people coming up to me and my wife telling us that they love my newsletter. I remember at one wedding I had never met the groom. The bride introduced us as the guy who sends the newsletters. He just cracked a smile and said " I love your newsletters. I read them from cover to cover" I sold them a house and did their mortgage last month. It paid off.
I believe that each newsletter should have:
- local info
- a few politically correct jokes (no blonde jokes, no stereotype jokes)
- A little bit about the area (hsitory of the area, history of a landmark, history of the sports teams)
- some of your latest successes
- a article about general real estate or mortgage info
- household hints.
- your contact info on every page
- your blog info and website info
- an uplifting story or positive thinking article
- a recipe
- talk about your family and you and lifes ups and downs - personalize yourself, you are not just a Realtor
I have clients that call after the newsletter just to say hi. They are not doing anything but they like me enough to call. In 2003 I did 10 million dollars of loans in one month. Many of them were from past clients. A newsletter had gone out and the timing was perfect. I can't say enough about sending your sphere a newsletter by snail mail.
I try to appeal to the broad base of my clients and try to change it up so there is a little for everybody.
I believe whatever industry you are in you need to send past clients, friends, family a newsletter. Let them know you are in the business, that you are doing well, and that you need their support and business. Otherwise they may just take it somewhere else. The whole key in this industry is to give the client something they want. Give them a benefit, Give them something they can use, that they can enjoy. May you all get the response I have.
Have a great day!!!!! Russ Ravary
