Carlo-Margaret-Lee with Air CamKay's T ShirtIt was another beautiful Saturday morning when ten of us in four planes flew in to Cambridge, MD for breakfast at Kay's. The owner, Kay herself, stopped by our table and enjoyed reading what I wrote about a visit we made a few weeks ago.

I called from the plane to make reservations since we knew there was a Wings 'N' Wheels 2008 event going on. It was fun to meet and talk with several of the other pilots. While enjoying a wonderful meal and wonderful conversations, I asked Carlo about taking a ride in his Air Cam. From the smile on his face it was clear he was delighted, and the next thing I knew we were out on the grass and I was climbing into this open aircraft, putting on my headset, and buckling the seat and shoulder harness.

We took off waving to our group on the ground. The wind in my face was exhilarating! This aircraft can be flown from the front or rear seat, and I had a set of instruments and a joystick, but was too engrossed with the excitement to even think of trying to fly the plane. Uh oh, look at this...it says Experimental! Down below I could see other experimental design along with ultra lights, biplanes, and even a B25 bomber.

Ultralights etc

Hotel from Air Cam

Now this was flying – the other trips were just transportation from Point A to Point B. At only a few hundred feet above the ground, the views were awesome. Can you see how close we were to the hotel? Wheeee what fun!

Margaret, GOOD FOR YOU!!! That looks like soooo much fun. In a heartbeat I would take a ride. ;-) I'm always wishing I could sprout wings and just go up a couple hundred feet to see around me. I thought that was unique, but I guess not. ;-)

I tried hang gliding and loved it. I need to go do it again. Oh what fun it is to be in the sky to me.

Lenn, This was an adventure and so much fun. I put it in Taking Control of your Health  group. Wonder if they kick me out.

Teri, This was like having wings such a wonderful bird's eye view. Come visit us and I will see if I can convince Carlo to take you for a ride.

Susan, Hang gliding is something I have not done. I like having at least one engine.

What fun, MArgaret. Thanks for sharing. You are quite the daredevil, aren't you? I keep thinking about going hang gliding but haven't gotten up the nerve.

Petra, So when are you going to make that dream come true?

Jeff, As I said above, if I am going to be in the sky, I want at least one engine, preferably two. As as they say...Just Do IT

David, It was so much fun.

Margaret, I worked at an airport for 2 years shortly after high school (sorry, can't remember how long ago that was), and I saw a lot of interesting planes.  It was always fun whenever they arrived.  These planes always garnered a small crowd of curious people (yep, I was one of those).  You have me wishing I could have been there.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane!  ~ Greg ~

Margaret - I think I would have to talk to the Top Gun of the Air Force to make this dream come true - LOL. In the meantime, I'll keep dreaming maybe one day this dream will come true.

Hi Margaret, I love your sense of adventure. Re "At only a few hundred feet above the ground"... What a buzz that must have been! The BIG smile on your face in that last pic says it all. ;-)

Greg, Bet you could go to an airport in South Carolina and recreate that high school feeling.

Laura, It's not too late....go for it!

Kim, It might be more fun on your own but I am glad you got a thrill from my flight.

Petra, I think someone as creative as you can figure out a way to make it come true.

mARTi, That big smile lasted for awhile and returns when I think of the flight.  Wonder what will be next....need to keep looking for more  adventures. Thanks for always sharing.

Wow what a neat hobby!  Hey I just emailed you and wanted to be sure you got it.  Marqaret Woda contacted me about wanting to attend one of my classes also so I don't know if you and the number 2 MD blogger know each other or not but she might be a good resource.

ummm you are straight-up, stone cold bonkers.  in a billion years you wouldn't get me in an open plane...i would even pass over a ferris wheel most times, methinks.  the glass elevators in hotels are good enough for me, thankyouverymuch.  you can pretend there's no glass there.  like your kamikaze birds do. BANG!

Erica, Me, stone cold bonkers... don't  'sink' so lady. This was so much fun. You only fly when the weather is perfect. The scenery is awesome. Me thinks  you would love this plane. Maybe we can get you to fly with Carlo. And we "dodge" da birds.

"I called from the plane to make reservations"

Margaret, that statement alone speaks volumes about the dynamic person behind it! I kept thinking about this bog you wrote a while back. I doubt I'll be flying in the manner pictured above but I did visit the lovely hotel in Cambridge when they first opened. It was a short drive from our Grasonville home and it made for a nice day trip.

Thanks for the email and much success on your book!

Cynthia, We fly over that hotel but I don't think I have ever been inside.

Thanks for you encouragement.
