I thought we adopted pets...not the other way around

Meet Gertrude, our resident iguana. This is a picture of a young iguana who adopted us last year.  She is incredibly colorful with her vivid  shades of lime green. She stops by every day by the pool and delivers a "poo" present, which of course, I get to clean up when in residence.  Even though Hurricane Omar hit us straight on, Gertrude survived and continues to grow and flourish in her Caribbean retreat. Unlike the typical pets in Lakewood, CO, Gertrude has full reign of our yard....as an endangered species, we anticipate she will be a part of household for a very long time.

They are beautiful, but watch out feeding the iguana...they have very sharp razor like teeth..Ouch, my husband had to have 4 stitches after feeding an iguana in Cozumel.

Gertrude looks pretty healthy.  What good color.  I think you need to do a video with Gertrude in it.

Emelyn,

What an amazing creature! Their personalities are so unique. Their coloration really is telling when they're feeling good, or cold, or how dominant they are over others... it's all over the board! I know that you will have many wonderful years with her - they are neat pets.

Enjoy!

Gertrude has made herself at home living in the lush landscape surrounding the pool. She is pretty fickle and will make an entrance whenever she darn well pleases. We don't feed her....but I do say hello whenever she makes an appearance.  I will upload my most recent photo of her shortly. She is maturing and her colors are getting darker...
