referral partners: The Businessperson's Pot O' Gold: Testimonials and Referrals - 03/23/18 11:20 AM

The Businessperson's Pot O' Gold:
Testimonials and Referrals

Testimonials and referrals ... as a businessperson, it just doesn't get any better than receiving them, right?

Neither are ever a given, no matter how well-deserved.  And in this busy world, they can be hard to come by.  Clients (even happy satisfied ones) get busy, forget, and move on with their lives after moving or financing a home.

Life intervenes with referral partners too.  The search for new clients never ends.  New business demands their attention.  "Niceties" are easily forgotten during these times.  All understandable ...

So I was thrilled when I received a note yesterday from … (14 comments)

referral partners: Let's Get Pinned! - 10/31/14 06:59 AM

Let's Get Pinned!

No ... not that way!  On Pinterest!
I've been a big fan of Pinterest now for quite a while.  As time and my participation on Pinterest has grown, I've seen very positive results for my business.  Both from a client basis ... and that of meeting and working with new Referral Partners.
Pinterest has definitely contributed to increased visibility online.  But besides the business benefit to Pinterest ... I've just come to enjoy the site.
Typically my wife (my marketing assistant) and I "pin" together.  I think doing Pinterest as a team … (22 comments)

referral partners: Life During the Holidays: "The Hurrier I Go, the Behinder I Get" - 12/05/13 04:24 AM

Life During the Holidays:
"The Hurrier I Go, the Behinder I Get"
"The hurrier I go, the behinder I get" ...
The above is a line from the children's storybook, "Alice in Wonderland" written by Lewis Carroll ... but it definitely describes my life and home as of late.  Seems the faster I go and the more I tackle, the more I find I still have to conquer and accomplish.  I feel I'm running behind.
Others around me are experiencing much the same thing.  Like me, they're "wrapping up" more than presents … (24 comments)

referral partners: There are Many Joys and Benefits to Working with Long Time Referral Partners and Friends ... But Today I Won't be Experiencing Them - 03/19/13 08:31 AM

There are Many Joys and Benefits to Working with
Long Time Referral Partners and Friends ...
But Today I Won't be Experiencing Them
Having been in the mortgage business for so long and having served many of the same referral partners during that entire time, has its good points and its bad.  I think the good ones are fairly obvious.  Who doesn't love having established long term relationships and working with those that have, after so many years, become good friends too?

But as many pluses as there are to these situations, there … (43 comments)

referral partners: The Vital Importance of Referrals. Remembering Those That Have Earned Them ... - 09/05/11 08:46 AM

When sitting around tables of family and friends over the weekend, the conversation (as it so often does anymore) turned to jobs.
The groups represented a real cross-section of professions. Everything from soup to nuts was in attendance. But it occurred to me, that I was really the only one involved that relied on referrals for my livelihood. And I wondered ... did any of those others surrounding me at those tables realize just how vitally important referrals could be to someone reliant on them? Did they think about it at all?        Now I know … (28 comments)

referral partners: Help ME Help YOU! The Importance of Current and Correct Information ... - 08/04/11 07:01 AM

Just like when housecleaning, I need to attack the "dust bunnies and fritzels" in my databases once in awhile.  Clean 'em up, dust them off, freshen them, and then move them around to new and more current listings.
The act of doing this periodically helps me in a multitude of ways.  It serves to re-acquaint and freshen my memory regarding my contacts.  It spurs me to reach out, educate, inform, confirm, solidify, and freshen the relationships I have forged.  It also energizes me.  All good in my book!
The act of database "housecleaning" also serves to alert me to the fact that I may … (2 comments)

referral partners: Meet and Get to Know Some of Chicagoland and Illinois' Best Real Estate Professionals - 03/30/11 04:32 AM

Call it the "ex-Chamber of Commerce President syndrome", but I like to get to know, comment, and promote the real estate professionals that are right here in my own backyard in Chicagoland and Illinois.  The lessons honed during my three stints as Mokena (IL) Chamber of Commerce President live on ...
And just as current Chambers and their Presidents remind their residents to conduct business locally and keep tax dollars local ... it's my ActiveRain/business policy to do much the same.
Now don't get me wrong.  I've got great ActiveRain contacts all over the States and Canada.  And when referral opportunities pop-up … (10 comments)

referral partners: SAFETY ALERT! Be Educated. Stay Safe ... it's an Insurance Policy. - 12/02/10 08:14 AM

Establishing relationships, and then building upon them with reliable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable referral partners can make the world go round.  There is just a never-ending list of reasons you want to keep doing business with these professionals ... and refer them and their services to others.
For me personally, and with my mortgage services and clients, Stringham Insurance Agency... located out of Mokena, Illinois, is such a referral partner.  I  have written of this Agency, and its' owners Richard and Mary Ann Stringham, in a prior post.  (See: Stringham Insurance Agency in Mokena, IL.   Your "Small Town Professionals".)

referral partners: Loan Modifications. Foreclosures. Short-sales. Credit Repair. Mortgage Applications. Heartbreak. All reasons to find and establish a relationship with an experienced, knowledgable preferred lender ... - 04/12/10 08:51 AM

It doesn't take long to find and read through multiple heart-breaking and unsettling stories here on ActiveRain regarding the handling of lending transactions, loan modifications, foreclosures, short-sales, credit repair, mortgage applications, and more.  It's a sad fact, but true.
It also doesn't take long to find and read comments left by agents and brokers on AR expressing their loyalty and thanks for the relationships and trust they have forged with their favorite preferred lenders ... proving the extreme importance of those relationships.
I focus this article on the buyers, newer agents, sellers, attorneys, etc. that have not yet found and established that … (5 comments)

referral partners: My Sense of Humor Eluded Everyone ... But They Thought It Was a Great Idea! - 01/05/10 02:15 AM

Last week after a particularly frustrating day, I wrote a message on my Facebook.  It was meant to be somewhat "tongue in cheek", but evidently that wasn't as apparent as I thought it was.  My comment was that I was going to put an educational seminar together for today's home buyers.  The topic would obviously cover the lending process, but would also cover all the many changes recently made within our industry.
I suggested that the largest portion of the seminar would be directed at those buyers that had previously closed a loan and were looking to refinance currently.  The focus of this portion would … (10 comments)

referral partners: Holiday Newsletters! The gift that keeps on giving ... - 11/19/09 08:25 AM

This last week or two I've been planning and writing my upcoming Holiday Newsletter.  My wife and I work together on this effort and have   a great time while doing so.
I mail an actual print newsletter about every other month to all those within my database.  Attorneys, accountants, mortgage customers, realtors, friends, relatives, and more are all recipients.  Typically the articles featured within this marketing piece are of an informative nature or offer up assistance on mortgage lending, home buying/selling, financial, or home care needs.

The intent of the Holiday Newsletter is quite different though from those that … (8 comments)

referral partners: Putting Together the Right Team ... Will You Be Ready to Compete? - 10/20/09 03:09 AM

In the past, I've mentioned countless times that I love sports and see   a direct correlation between my participation on team sports during my past and my philosophy of "team" within my present business.  For me personally, this concept just seems natural and works well.

Presently, I am in "team"-building mode.  I am actively seeking to expand  and strengthen my team by reaching out to those I wish to broaden and build  strong relationships with.  This includes referral  partners, co-workers, and new loan officers.  I'm planning and building the foundation for a new improved expansion team.
