christmas: Have Yourself A Merry Christmas - 12/23/23 05:54 PM
Grapevine's Historic Main Street in Texas is a great place to feel the spirit of the holiday. Good Things For All Seasons has the most beautiful gifts and many choices too. Santa Claus greets you when you enter the store and there are other Santas to choose from too. The Owners and Store clerks are very kind and helpful.

Of course there is the Grinch, a Polar Bear, and Snoopy too! These are just a few.

Whether it is quality or quantity, there doesn't seem to be any shortages or limits. Stores that sell Christmas merchandise brings back memories of my mother taking … (23 comments)

christmas: In The Still Of The Night & A Christmas Story - 12/21/23 10:16 AM
Welcome to Flower Mound! The blue lighted Christmas Tree my Feature Photo is located at the Flower Mound Community Center. The Flower Mound Community Center was built as new construction and opened in 2012. It offers lots of parking, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness groups, exercise classes, programs, private birthday parties and more. In the still of the night there is awareness. The color blue symbolizes serenity.

The view above from Gerault Road is in between Long Prairie Road and Flower Mound. In the still of the night, I am reminded a Town's social well-being contributes to health.

christmas: Taste, See, Learn in Paradise at the Dallas Arboretum - 12/03/23 09:25 PM
PHOTO JOURNALISM BY PATRICIA FEAGER, 12/4/23
The bookstore at the Christmas Village is simply delightful! This is Part 4 of my series about Discovering Paradise at the Dallas Arbortetum on November 29, 2023. New adventures await when the mind is open and the doors to the Book Store are open.

"To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark." --annonymous. When a little house is packed with books it looks like a perfect place to take a break. Pick up a book or recite poetry. Lookie Lou's are always welcome!

With the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, the Gardens are open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Members have special hours and closing times for events. There is no better way to enjoy the four seasons in Dallas than to become a member and visit it year-round. christmas: Before There Were LEGOS® - 12/23/22 09:21 PM
What is the fascination with toys? Many toys teach children to play, build, and make something creative. Today, there is a store in Grapevine, Texas called LEGOLAND Discovery Center, a very popular store year round, especially around Christmas. When I grew up most kids had Lincoln Logs® or Plastic Bricks that snapped together to build houses. My house was filled with little red and white plastic bricks that were played with for hours. No one ever got bored. There were even white plastic windows and doors and green bricks to use for the roof. As children, we dumped our bricks on … (18 comments)

christmas: Christmas Catalogs & Memories - 12/22/22 02:46 PM
Christmas is almost here. Were you one of the kids who spent hours looking at catalog pages making Christmas lists for Santa Clause? Wasn't looking at toys in big catalogs a lot of fun! Some kids never grew up and became Professionals in Sales! I met the guy riding the tricylce in Denton, Texas.

The Catalog Company designed and marketed toys in their big Christmas Catalogs were genius in that they also created a younger generation's thrist for toys and goods inside their homes. Wasn't this a brilliant idea? What the baby boomers of the 1950's and 1960's saw and learned was:

christmas: Where To Buy Christmas Decor in Dallas-Fort Worth - 12/11/22 07:06 AM
Shopping for Christmas Decor in Dallas Fort Worth
Holiday Decor 4 Us Boutique is located at the corner of Northwest HWY & Main Street in Grapevine. Parking is in the back of the store. Inside is cordial. The Owner's Daughter works at the shop and is friendly and helpful.

A good first impressions can be very influential. The owner's daughter is truly knowledgeable. She made my experience even more special and pointed out decor I otherwise would have probably missed. Her style is not to push products but to educate the consumer on items for sale that are unique and interesting.  Holiday Decor … (18 comments)

christmas: Experiencing Christmas Time in Flower Mound, TX - 12/04/22 09:44 PM
"Where thou art, that is home" ---Emily Dickinson
Besides the Equestrian Centers what keeps me saddled in Flower Mound are the arts. The annual Christmas Parade and Flower Mound Tree Lighting Ceremony took place on Saturday, December 3. I am not a fan of crowds, but my heart is crowded with love for the arts. This photo was taken Sunday evening so that I could appreciate it selfishly, all by myself.
The Christmas Tree is in front of the Flower Mound Community Activity Center. The Activity Center offers events year round, including indoor swimming pool and aquatic activities, personal fitness training, Pickleball, FloMo … (13 comments)

christmas: Friday Surprises in Flower Mound, Texas on 12/2/22 - 12/02/22 11:33 PM
I stopped off at Allegiance Title on Friday morning and was surprised to see Santa Clause in one of the conference rooms. We had a nice visit.

The Flower Mound Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held in the evening on Saturday, 12/3/2022. What a surprise it was for me to see a different Christmas Tree lit up in the Mixed Use Neighborhood and also surprised nobody was standing by it having pictures taken or that nobody was taking carriage rides. I took a picture and isn't it lovely?

While driving and listening to the radio, the original Pink Panther song came on the … (9 comments)

christmas: How Important is Reading Good Stories? - 01/12/22 05:50 AM
On January 8th, I wrote an AR post called "My Best Read Holiday Posts 2021-2022."  I included names and links for stories that filled my heart with joy because to me, they were stories written by real members from ACTIVERAIN about what inspired them during this particular time of the year. In one way or another, their stories struck a chord with me and soon, I recognized the courage it took for them to write about their personal life experiences.
The point of this post is to read the stories by members of ActiveRain. During the holiday, their stories were fresh and … (18 comments)

christmas: My Best Read Holiday Posts 2021-2022 - 01/08/22 11:58 AM
When people become members of a group and they are kind, patient, and extend a hand when needed, it doesn't take long to develop friendship. Each act we take with kindness brings us closer together. Whether it's positive change, inspiration, some type of energy, or a personal story that promotes education, new learning, inspiration, or motivation, it becomes a gift. Where there is kindness there is hope. Where there is respect, there is trust. Beautiful photographs and interesting stories makes me forget about struggles and disappointments. The holiday months can be hectic or sad, depending on each individual. No matter how … (17 comments)

christmas: Happy Christmas Eve - 12/24/21 04:37 AM
December 24, 2021: It's the night before Christmas and all through the dark there are colors of the spectrum of Christmas delight. There's bound to be something in neighborhoods across America that draws you in to the magic of Christmas. The greens and red, yellows and brown, all twinkle around the houses where people live. Not a creature is stirring, no, not even a mouse.
You can blink once or you can blink twice and the colors of Christmas cause you to open your eyes wide.
Branches now constitute the skeleton of the trees decorated in lights - they make everything bright. Darkness … (27 comments)

christmas: It's Coming!!! - 12/21/19 12:59 PM

Christmas Eve is nearly here. Here are some motivational quotes from Toy Story to keep you in good spirits and some facts about birds:

"You got a play-date with destiny!"

"To Infinity and beyond!"

"Reach for the sky!"

In the spirit of Christmas, please remember wildlife. Although humans can find just about everything they need at most grocery stores the birds who don't fly south for winter or choose to stay may need a little help from people who care. However, if you begin to feed the birds, you'll need to continue or they can starve. This morning I saw a Red Cardinal in flight … (18 comments)

christmas: Christmas Is More Than Just Your Imagination - 12/16/19 05:04 PM
Author: Patricia Feager, 12/16/19

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward
in this faith is to see what you believe."
 --- St. Augustine

Whether it was right or wrong to believe in Santa Claus makes no difference. What matters to me are the rewards you reap when you believe in being good. Doing the right thing always has a positive effect - at least that is true for me. This past weekend I went on a retreat. The theme was reflective life... wondering, pondering, and of course, reflection.

No. We did not talk about Santa Claus. And I'm not going to … (43 comments)

christmas: Holiday Fun Begins At the Dallas Arboretum - 12/06/19 06:06 AM

"Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. Live and work but do not
forget to play, to have fun in life and really enjoy it. When fun
gets deep enough, it can heal the world. There is no pleasure
in having nothing to do; the fun is having lots to do and not doing it."

The best thing about the Dallas Arboretum are the holidays and December is my favorite month of the year. If you're expecting snow in December in Dallas, the probability is low; however, it could happen. Yesterday, December 5, 2019 temperatures reached 71 degrees. This morning it is a cool … (23 comments)

christmas: Memories of Montana Skies - 12/10/17 10:10 AM

Be though the rainbow in the storm of life.
The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow
with prophetic ray. --- Lord Byron

I love taking photographs of places I go and things that I see. This shot was taken with me standing on the top of a cliff looking through the pine trees in Montana in September, 2017. Wildfires were burning at the time but in this brief moment, I smelled the pine. Clouds with threats of rain were welcoming. Yes! In the middle of nowhere, I was participating in the rain dance, hoping for … (18 comments)

christmas: Oh Christmas Tree & Things I Don't Want to Miss - 12/02/17 06:27 AM
by Patricia Feager, 12/2/2017
Dedicated to Dick Greenberg & anyone else like Endre Barath, Jr., or Michael Jacobs who may need some smiles and some laughter today..

Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting.
It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding
time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.

christmas: Chasing Your Passion - 11/25/11 06:50 AM
“Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night.”  --- Glade Byron Addams
As Christmas travelers move around they will be lured by color, passion, and reminded of family and friends. This fountain at the Shops of Southlake in Texas lured me in because of the intensity of the colors red and green. As I moved closer, the light effects of Christmas becomes more and more intense, especially in the reflective water of lights. The brilliant intensity of colors, in the quiet of the night, filled my heart with passion. Christmas Day will be here before you know it.

christmas: A TRUE CHRISMAS STORY ABOUT COMPASSION AND LOVE - 12/25/10 06:52 AM
A TRUE CHRISTMAS STORY ABOUT COMPASSION & LOVE
This is the tale of a bitter cold Christmas morning in Northern, Illinois, where the frost was like crystal clear glass spinning smooth pointed icicles that dripped from the rooftops, and fresh layers of snow packed the streets that never seemed to melt, stretching across wide highways for miles from north to south; east to west...
The waters of Lake Michigan looked like icebergs in an Artic land from where children believed Santa Claus was coming. Sleepy children of all ages were waking up expecting to find Christmas presents under their trees, telephone wires were ringing … (19 comments)
