What are you making for dinner tonight? Diane asked as we were driving home from Pasadena? Needless to say we were both hungry heading back from Vroman's Bookstore. So the conversation turned to would you like Peruvian Scallops? She wondered if I had some fresh ones and broke the news that they were frozen. The next question was would you like rice or pasta? Funny question why ask an Italian pasta or rice.
Well, you guessed it was pasta. I did not have pre-made sauce, so I had to scramble and only spent two hours reducing the sauce and adding leftover caramelized … (13 comments)

Christmas Dinner: well can you guess? Traditions can change with time, but the yearning for the traditional heritage food we grew up with, remains. Hence not surprisingly, Diane wanted an Italian-American dish. I asked her what she wanted and the answer was simple: Pasta.
As she returned from walking dogs at the Lange Foundation where she is a senior volunteer, she said more specifically that she wanted: Spaghetti and Meatballs. I anticipated this request and while the “sauce” was being made since about 12 noon today, in between that I made some meatballs. I have searched in all my Italian cookbooks and … (15 comments)
