Come on in to the Rain, Newbies, the water is fine!
I just came across this contest posted by Jerry Newman about helping introduce the newer members of ActiveRain to the rest of this fabulous, online community. If you'd like to check out the contest and participate, here is the link for it. You still have a few days left! I perused the roster and came across three new members that I wanted to share with you. Next time you see their posts, make sure to comment and encourage them to keep at it.

Meet Jairo Arreola, he is a real estate agent in the San Fernando Valley in California. He specializes in the San Fernando Valley and the surrounding areas and is a great resource for his first time homebuyers. Jairo is an Army veteran and has posted some great blogs already. Being a veteran, Jairo is well versed in the VA loan process and would consider it an honor to be able to help as many veterans as he can with their real estate transactions. Next time you see one of his posts, check it out.

Next up is Krista McCoy, a real estate agent in Pleasanton, also in California. I just realized I picked three newbies from my neighbor state. While reading through Krista's blogs and checking out her website, I learned that she will donate 10% of her earnings to the school of her client's choice. Kind of a nice touch, definitely makes her stand out from the crowd. That alone tells me she is not only committed to her clients, but to her community.
Last up is a home inspector from the Murrieta, California area, Roger Shafer with Shafer Home Inspections. Roger brings a wealth of knowledge to the home inspection arena with over 38 years experience in residential construction and design. Check out his blog, leave him some comments. Let him and the other newbies know not to give up on the blogging. Consistency will pay off!
I've learned so much in the short amount of time that I've been participating on ActiveRain, and each day I keep on learning. Being a very visual person, one of the first tips that I received and that I was extremely appreciative to learn had to do with the placement of images within the blogs.
When you insert an image into a blog, a window pops up with three tabs across the top. The middle one says Appearance. If you click on that, you can align the image wherever you'd like it to appear within your blog. The boxes that say "Vertical Space, Horizontal Space, and Border" are very important to me. I typically put a 7 for vertical and horizontal space, and usually a 1 for the border. This helps to keep the image from butting up right next to the text in the blog. Makes it easier to read.
So, there you have it, I hope this tip helps you and I hope you continue to participate in ActiveRain.
