You (Realtors) Get Back, What You Give ~ Treat People the Way You Would Like to be Treated

By

This is a rant of sorts and it isn't the first time I've brought up this topic, but it bares repeating; OFTEN!

Yesterday I was on floor when a nice guy comes in to ask about property. I sensed he was reluctant to speak, so I did my best to make him comfortable. Finally he said, "I'm looking to buy some vacant land..." and he goes on to share with me that he had spoken to MANY Realtors up here in Lake Arrowhead (on the phone), either calling about their listings or just trying to get someone to help him. He said several were down-right-rude.

Now look, I know every potential client that calls or walks into our office/s may not a zillionaire, but if your (Realtors) only objective is to nab the High-End consumer, why don't you put that bit of information on your damn BUSINESS CARD OR WEBSITE???? Have the guts to say, "Hey, I am not wasting my time on you unless you've got a big, fat bank acct."  Go ahead, I dare you!

I, for one, am tired of hearing about Realtors who think their shit poop doesn't stink and they are better than ANYONE else, including people with thinner wallets.

Treat people/consumers the way you'd like to be treated. AND, if you don't want to help certain people, PLEASE GIVE THEM MY INFORMATION:  909-273-4542.

This is NOT a members only post. I WANT everyone to know how I feel.

Don't think you're any better than anyone else... it WON'T pay in the end.

Realtors do more than service customers...they are actively giving back to the community, active, vibrant and positive. I think you ran into an arrogant, not lift a finger type that is no little red hen service oriented broker. But running all over creation with someone not in a position to buy after sitting down and listening is not doing them, your seller, you any good.

Good for you Kat, I agree we're in the service business and all buyers and sellers should be given equal service. Why, because that is fair housing. You will probably have a loyal buyer there who will buy a property, good luck.

"You go girl".....bread and butter is the name of the game. I took one short sale listing last June which is priced at $119,000, not in my main market. 2 weeks later....I had 4 other listings in that building. I treated the seller with the same respect and attention as a big client and when you add all 5 up together....that's a nice chunk of commission.

Andrew... This buyer is a cash buyer and when someone calls me about one of my vacant land listings, it is my duty to help get my seller's property sold. And there is no place in Real Estate for rudeness (to a consumer).  Thanks for your thoughts.

Mary: I agree with you 100%! Thanks for dropping by!

Karen: You are a GOOD Realtor, plain and simple. Thankfully, there are more like us, than not...just the ugly apples get the attention.

Kat - BRAVO!  AMEN!  The same goes for all you mortgage professionals who treat low-medium income buyers the same way.  Early in my mortgage career, I discovered this niche buyer.  Why?  Because no one else around here would work with them.  These buyers were literally tossed away and kicked to the curb time after time after time.

Fast forward nearly eight years and they are not only some of my best clients and referral partners, but they have also become some of my nicest friends.  I would rather work with my little low-medium income buyers than some high end buyer any day.  My little buyers are some of the nicest, appreciative and grateful people I have ever worked with.

As for the few million dollar buyers I've worked with during my career, I would never work with any of them ever again.  They were some of the rudest, most arrogant, obnoxious and demanding jerks I have ever worked with (right up there with some of the areas top producing Realtors I've had the misfortune of working with).  While working with them I was counting the days before it would be over so that I could remove their name from my database and never talk to them ever again.

Donne: Exactly, real estate or the lending institution, we SHOULD always treat peeps with respect. And WE do, and it pays in referrals. I still have clients in Oregon that tell friends and family about ME because I treated them right (they were lower price range peeps).    Thanks, friend, for stopping by.

Caren... You know me, tell it like it is, Kat.  :-)   All people we meet deserve ourrespect (until they/unless they do something deserving).
