Chanel is a Lhasa-Pom diva that always get special treatment. In fact she is so special that I always do her grooming myself.
It's my therapy after a bad day! Believe me....it takes hours to groom her and all that hair.
The other day I realized that I was going to have to delegate more of what I do on a daily basis.
Chanel was starting to look shaggy and dirty but I just couldn't fit in her spa bath and cut into my hectic schedule.
I called my friend, Harriet Spivey who is an expert dog groomer. She recently moved to For Paws Unleashed owned by Ashley Renton.
This day spa for dogs is the ultimate set up for dog grooming and boarding.
I contacted Harriet and made an appointment for early Monday morning.
Chanel would be having only the second bath in her life by someone other than me. The first was at the kennel I got her from and they held her squirming 1.6 pound ball of fur under a kitchen faucet and cleaned her up. I have taken over since then for over 4+ years.
Harriett did have patience with Chanel and took time to apply her special shampoo that I had brought along.
Next was a blow dry then some fancy trimming of all that diva hair!
She was being such a good girl and even sat still to let Harriett trim her ears.
It took some time to get the cut just right and Chanel was really glad to be finished.
She was getting tired and wanted to lay down on the table. Very hard to trim her when she is trying to sleep.
Special treatment is what she deserves after her two brushes with death.
I know that she was put on this earth to make others happy and she's my heart. Because of her I have met many people that have become my close friends.
Some got to know her when she would hijack my blog and discuss things that she found funny or just wanted to vent.
Like why she wasn't invited to Thanksgiving dinner rant.
She often dishes out tidbits of wisdom to help me understand my clients better. Chanel can keep me calm when craziness is swirling around me.
We have our ups and downs that's a fact!
As it turned out. I must have stressed more than she was about getting the new haircut from For Paws Unleashed.
Harriet really took her time and was so sweet to her.
You can see at one time during a past grooming session(a few years ago), Chanel injured her tongue. It scared the begeebers out of me when it happened.
It was so quick... she had flicked out her tongue when being trimmed around her mouth. It clipped it on the side. Accidents can happen so fast.
I was so sad. I cried lots more than she did.
Next time we both will feel bettter about the grooming since it was a great experience.
There is a doggie day care and boarding service also that we might use in the future.
Thanks Harriet for such a good job! Chanel is sooo happy with her new "do".
