Also, here are three links to blogs I wrote about this project for additional information:

Moving Mountains Design provides vacant home staging, color consultations, corporate and executive relocations,  and interior design. We also stage model homes, REOs, foreclosures and auction properties for real estate investors and asset managers. Michelle, the show is as beautiful and affecting as the staging job itself.  I think you've got the zooms and pans just right.  Is it my imagination or is there a typo on "uninviting"? Brits, you know?!

Michelle - Loved the RES.  The home looks lovely. I can see why they got more then the asking price.

Your post is a reminder for me to do what I have been putting off!

Juliet: Thanks for pointing that out, and so politely as well. I'm not sure if I can fix it, but I'll give it a try.

Kathy: You are a sweetheart. Thank you.

Janice: Thank you. Get to work, Girl!

Michelle, I love the show. I started using them myself a couple of months ago, they are the best advertising aren't they? I get great feedback on them, as well. I can't get over how easy they are to put together.

This job was such an wonderful showcase of your skills, and, well, you just can't beat the results!

Great job!  It looks so professional.  What is the software you used.  Also, are these still photos or did you have a movie camera?

Jason & Deanna: Breckenridge is a little far for me, although I have staged as far away as Kansas City. It can get a little pricey. There are a number of very talented stagers in the Denver area. BTW, I used to work for Thurston Kitchens at their Denver showroom, Kitchens at the Denver (I never did understand that name). I always enjoyed going to Breckenridge to look at projects.

Barbara: Shucks, you're making me blush! Thank you.

The RES is great Michelle, it gives a nice perspective of what the house looked like before and what a transformation it was after.  I applaud you for doing this and showing how staging works.  Its a great tool for Realtors to show their clients as well.

Why thank you kindly, Karen. I never thought about it being a tool for Realtors too. I just might pursue that avenue of marketing as well.

Okay, Michelle...quick question. My sister is pondering a career in home staging.  What can you tell us about it?  What education (if any) is beneficial?  Is insurance required?  Do you supply your own furniture out of your own finances?  Are you able to work your own hours?  Are there companies that hire and provide equipment for you?  Thanks in advance for your wisdom and expertise

Michelle,
You did a wonderful job on both the staging and the RES! Don't you just love this tool? I have found RES to be invaluable in my business. I'm sure you will come up with a million ways to show off your work. Congrats!

Sarah: I really enjoy home staging, and hope to continue doing it for many years to come. I work very long hours (as do most stagers & business owners) and at the end of a staging day, I am physically exhausted. Despite the fact that I usually have 2 or 3 assistants (on the payroll) working with me, I am still doing a lot of toting and hauling, running up and down the stairs 45 times, etc. When I am not actually staging, I am spending my "free" time going over the accounting, payroll, inventory, repairing damaged props, shopping, etc. That doesn't include the time I spend speaking to Realtors, going to open houses, marketing & blogging to improve my SEO. I spend a lot of money on insurance, for me and my employees, workers comp, liability, loss of business property, etc. Insurance is not required by any licensing agency, at least not where I operate, but I highly recommend it. Without it, I would not sleep at night. I have a pretty high functioning operation, so I am working at least 40 hours per week. As the boss, I can dictate if we are starting at 7:30 AM or 9:30 AM, but I wouldn't say I get to pick my hours. If we are not working, then there is no money coming in. There are other stagers here on AR that have a different business model and they may get to pick their hours.

I use rental furniture from Brook Furniture for all the larger pieces and upholstered pieces and I supply all the Persian rugs, lamps, most of the artwork, accessories, throw pillows, etc. They deliver all their rental inventory and set it up for a fee.

There are many fabulous stagers here on Active Rain that have blogged quite a bit about which training program is the best, how to start and run your staging business, etc. I would suggest you check them out and decide what works best for your sister.  Good Luck.
