A Baltimore Date...Movie at the Charles and a Crepe

How about a movie at the Charles and afterwards a  Crepe treat right next door?

The Charles is located at 1711 N.Charles St. just two blocks north of Penn Station of Baltimore's Penn Station

The structure that holds the Charles Theater was  designed in 1892 (119 years ago) by architect Jackson C. Gott. ' The Beaux-Arts buildings were originally designed to be a cable car barn (north side) and a powerhouse (south side). The buildings served as cable car facilities for four years after which they became a streetcar barn, a bus barn, a library for the blind, and the Famous Ballroom. In 1939, the Times Theatre opened on the site as Baltimore's first all-newsreel movie house. The theater was re-named the Charles circa 1959 and became a calendar revival house in 1979. The Charles remained a single-screen theater until 1999, when a dramatic expansion was completed to accommodate four additional screening rooms. The new five-screen Charles has a spacious, comfortable lobby and the four new screening rooms have stadium seating. The original auditorium still has 485 seats and has been altered only slightly.'

Right next door is friendly and warm place to walk in and order a crepe. You can sit in the window counter or if weather permits, the sidewalk tables. There is a nice selection of savory crepes as well as sweet dessert crepes. They are open 7 days a week with new hours:

Monday thru Wednesday 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Thursday thru Saturday 11:30am - 11:00pm
Sunday 11:30am - 8:00pm

It is good to see original classic creative building spaces like "The Charles" are still rockin today. Going out for an evening to see a movie and enjoy a meal is so different from having one arrive at home!

Brian, A really nice young couple got up and gave us their seats..Wow..haven't seen that for a long time.

Emily, A movie out is quite different than watching on TV.

Gail, Thank you..having the camera always with me, is the secret. I just take pictures load them and take a look to see what words will surround them.

Charles, Thanks for stopping by.

Tish, It is a very easy casual fun evening.

Jeff, I don't watch TV and rarely a movie at home. This is the way TLH can get me in front of screen other than the computer.
