baltimore: Paying Attention to the Details....Baltimore Craft Show - 03/13/12 07:59 PM
Attention is in the details. Last month I attended the The Best Craft Show Right Here in Baltimore... One artist that I have been following, Leonie Lacouette , again had her clocks on display. Last year I admired her work but thought they were too big for my space. This clever business woman was open to a custom order so I commissioned one for my home. It just arrived this week and there was a personal handwritten postcard thanking me for the purchase and on the back of the clock was written my name..no question it was a custom order. The

baltimore: The Cleaning Crew...Was Taking Care of Business! - 02/25/12 08:36 PM
The Cleaning Crew...Was Taking Care of Business! Had a showing at one of my new listings and upon arrival the "cleaning crew" was there. Not the workers we might have expected. There was a deceased opossum in the street and these guys were taking care of business. Reminded me of the last time I saw these thoughtful ole buzzards. Took a few photos of the road kill but decided it was a bit too graphic. The Cleaning Crew...Was Taking Care of Business! #########

The Best Craft Show is This Weekend in Baltimore.. Check Out the American Craft Council ACC show! For the past 36 years, the American Craft Council has held the ACC Craft show in Baltimore. You may remember that my former career was a ceramic and porcelain artist. For many years, I have been enjoying the show and taking photos to share right here on ActiveRain. It has been fun to write about the artists, the artwork and the enjoyment of just being at the The Best Craft Show! There is lots of eye candy in the

baltimore: IF YOU WANT SOLD ON YOUR HOME CALL MARGARET ROME - 12/28/11 09:35 PM
IF YOU WANT SOLD ON YOUR HOME CALL MARGARET ROME At the end of the calendar year, I like to change my advertising a bit. Sell Your Home With Margaret Rome has been a successful tag line for many years. I was thinking of doing an entire page with "SOLD" signs on all the houses... but then my current listings would not have the exposure. So I am using the top row with a banner that says IF YOU WANT SOLD ON YOUR HOME CALL MARGARET ROME. It is a subtle change that I will be using for the next two

Baltimore's Miracle On 34th Street. Who hasn't heard of Miracle on 34th Street? For over 60 years, Baltimore has had its own Thirty-Fourth street and each Christmas season, this Hampden neighborhood, is turned into a miracle of sorts. If you are in or near Baltimore, this is something not to be missed. Amazing what happens between the 700 and 800 block of W. 34th Street. Look what one neighborhood can do. Check out this pictorial from last year December 2010

baltimore: The One That Got Away. - 12/13/11 09:32 PM
The One That Got Away Quite a few years ago my friend and neighbor called asking my opinion about whether or not to sell her Baltimore home. We visited over coffee and some good conversation. Since she owned her home out right, her only expenses were utilities, taxes and upkeep. She loved her home which was a rancher..all on one floor and was very happy there. Family members were suggesting it was time to make a move to an apartment. I shared my feelings since she specifically asked. This was not the time to move. She was living well within her

These Agents Got It! Recently wrote a post about a friend who is thinking of retiring to Florida but has no clue how or where or with whom to start. So I wrote this post..Attention Florida Brokers and Real Estate Agents...Who is Going to Help Me Find a Florida Home? These agents got "IT" Look at these two comments: The first is from 'The Other Margaret in Maryland" one of my favorite members...Margaret Woda. "Margaret, I understand where these folks are in their search. It has to start somewhere and, like many people, they really don't know where that should be.

Attention Florida Brokers and Real Estate Agents...who is going to help me find a Florida home? When this request came in today, I thought ActiveRain would be the best place to start. ''We will be leaving Baltimore and moving to Florida in the near future. Our plan is to purchase a home before we retire. Here's what we are looking for... A single family rancher with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. We have no interest in a pool but would like to be within 20 minutes of the beach, close to good hospitals, a

baltimore: Thinking Putty...Have You Tried It Yet? - 11/26/11 11:59 PM
This has nothing to do with real estate, nothing to do with technology but it is an addictive product. You have to try Thinking Putty. In case you are somewhere and you can not use your iPhone or iPad or any other device...this is the sure thing to keep your hands occupied. Thinking Putty is like a silly putty but more for adults. It relieves (or gives) stress and may even spark some creative thoughts while keeping your hands busy and away from the computer. Watching and listening to my daughter, Erica, who has many of the 30 different colors

baltimore: The Duchess, the King and the Baltimore Connection. - 11/16/11 10:32 PM
Today at The Lecture Group we listened to Zippy Larson speak about her favorite subject... The Duchess, the King and the Baltimore Connection. Zippy has done so much research and has a wealth of information...enough to fill a semester, or two. The Smithsonian Institution Resident Associates asked her to research the Baltimore years of Wallis Warfield Simpson and devise a tour especially for them focusing on King Edward and Mrs Simpson in Baltimore. From this tour she started lecturing on the subject. Zippy spoke from A-Z and "almost" wrapped it up in an hour. Her enthusiasm, on the subject of
