Your Palate Will Say THANKS: Taste of Cincinnati May 28 - 30 2011
If you like food as more than just a means of telling your stomach to stop growling and shut up, then you're going to LOVE Taste of Cincinnati! Scheduled Memorial Day weekend, May 28 to 30. Saturday and Sunday noon to midnight, Monday noon to 9 p.m.
How else can you have the temptation and opportunity to sample over 40 of Cincinnati's tastiest treats? The nation's longest running festival of it's kind, this three day Memorial weekend food fest is in edition #32! Located on 5th Street in downtown Cincinnati between Race and Broadway. The event is free, but the food & drink? That you'll need to pay for! No item costs more than $5, and most are $3, so you can run up a sizable bill by the time you're done, but you'll have sampled more places and tastes than you could ever otherwise have hoped for!
And don't think you'll have the place to yourself! Typical three day attendance is in the neighborhood of half a million! And of course, it's MORE than just food. With five different performance stages spread over the six blocks, there's something for everyone's musical taste....okay, maybe NOT everyone, but click on the link and see what's scheduled!
And the food? If you're on a diet, sorry. This is some of the best you can get. Small servings of some FANTASTIC offerings. You know they have a contest pre-event and award Best of Taste prizes? Can you imagine a bite of these? Prime rib cannelloni (voted Best Damn Dish), Gumbo, Jameson burger, lobster ravioli, falafel sandwich, bread pudding....get the idea that there's a little something for everyone? Even if you spend all three days there and have an unlimited bank account, it's almost impossible to get to everything! Your stomach will cry "no mas" long before then! Each Taste of Cincinnnati restaurant has 3-5 different items you can select. Click the link to see the participating restaurants and all the offerings.
The key to this event, PLAN your strategy! The winners of the awards will be in higher demand. Expect longer lines. Work in some music groups you want to see. Maybe wander around downtown, Monday night the Reds play the Brewers at 7:10 p.m. Bring lots of ones and fives, expect crowds, dress appropriately for the weather, get your sunblock on, and have fun!
Bon appetit!
