RainCamp - Day2 - 01:00 - Bob Stewart on Hit Router and AR University

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Happy Grasshopper

ActiveRain University

Bob starts by addressing some of the recent staffing changes and announces that AR University is on hold this week, but will be back next week - and Bob will be your teacher!

They are going to be working on creating some new classes and may have some members start teaching some of the classes as well.  I think this is a great idea.  If you want to take a few classes you can find them at http://activerain.com/university

Hit Router

This is really interesting.  If you haven't set up your hit router - finish this paragraph and then leave this post and do it right now.  Hit router helps direct the traffic that is generated from people using the search that appears on top of the pages throughout the ActiveRain site.  If you are logged in, you won't see this - so log out so that you can test it.

Hit router works in 2 ways.

  1. Campaigns - If you want people to be routed to your listings when they search anywhere in the site, you can purchase this traffic by setting up a campaign - (see below)

  2. My Markets -If people use this search when on one of your pages, they will be directed to the links you have set up here.

Setting Up Hit Router

Paid - Start a New Campaign

  1. Type in and then choose a city you work in.
  2. Go to your IDX and do a search for the city - copy the url at the top of that search into the link feild.  This will take the searcher straight to the lisings they are looking for on your IDX.
  3. If no one is already buying click in your area, click start at .49 each.  If they are, you can bid for them just like in adwords.
  4. Pick a monthly budget.

Free - My Markets

  1. You set these up just like above, you just don't have to pay.
  2. YOU NEED TO DO THIS RIGHT NOW!!!!  Click here to go to the page.

Click Credits

If someone uses the search on your blog for an area you aren't set up for, AR gives you a credit for that search, you can use this in the Campaigns you set up for your paid searched.

I think I set up the free side of Hit Router, but will have to look into the other.

I had wondered if Hit Router was going forward...  or getting scrapped so I am glad to see they talked about it.  I have gone back and forth on the paid hits but I have always had the free part set up but I may set it up differently.

I've helped new members set it up.  It is easy to overlook but important.

Hi Celeste - Does AR have any data available on how many searches are being done in specific areas? And if no AR members have Hit Router set up for a location, does that search pass through to Market Leader?

Celeste, great post. I started working on it today during camp but never finished and to be perfectly honest I couldn't remember how to finish it. So thank you for the quick refresher. I really enjoyed getting to meet you and Dan this week at Raincamp.

So gald to her that abt ARU.  It's funny because I was thinking they might want to involve some AR members to teach classes.  Glad that great minds think alike.  At some pt I really need to retake the outside blog one again.  Oh, and it's good for us if we took the class w/ Steven as now we'll get some add'l perspective.

Celeste, this is very informative on a number of levels - RainCamp update, ARU update and Hit Router info that I don't think I understood and I have been around since Hit Router was set up.

I must have set it up at some point because I have a credit but to be honest I still don't understand what the benefit of it is. Why use Hit Router? is it to direct people to your listings? And what are the credits for? thanks!

Celeste, Excellent info on the ActiveRain Hit Router.  Until I read your tips, I got setup for My Markets, by sending hits  to agents that I work with in various areas.  Thanks for your post.
