An End Coming for Facebook and Twitter for SEO?

As I watch what google is doing I can see an end coming to SEO value for Twitter and Facebook.  I know many people will disagree with this as it has been stated a number of times that the social web will play a big part in future SEO.  Here are my reasons why.

Right now Google still dominates searches on the web.  Facebook does lead in traffic, but does not have a search built to compete with Google.  Right now everyone focuses on their rankings for Google.  Given that, if Google were to give weight in their searches to companies with Facebook pages, twitter accounts, etc. they are really only promoting the usage of their competition.

This is why I believe they did not renew their contract with Twitter and started Google+1.  Basically if they give high weight to businesses with successful Google+1 accounts it will lead many business owners to change to Google+1 rather than Facebook.

I still believe Facebook will dominate the "Social web" as everyone already has their networks set up, but I do think that Google could dominate the "Business social web" such as business pages.

Anyone else have any thoughts into this?

Reminder, this was written looking solely at SEO.  I still think Facebook and Twitter can help your business be successful for marketing purposes.

Thanks for the tips on the new Google+1. I have not participated in it yet. I fully intend to check it out this weekend. Thanks!

You could be right.  I tell everyone to start their page on Google+1 now while it all still develops.  It's only an investment of "time" for now.

Sergio,

Yes, I recommend the same for Google+1.  I have been recommending on here that people get it going if they have not already.  I wrote another post and built the raindrop for anyone to use and hopefully we can all add eachother in our "circles" on Google+1.  The tough part about Google+1 is that since it is so new it is hard to build up your network.

I find myself talking to myself quit a bit on there....haha.

Rob, I don't rely on FB or Twitter for anything belated to my business.... I like FB to keep up with family and friends, but Twitter just became annoying with all the automated tweets....

Teri,

I agree on Twitter.  I have tried to stay open minded and use it, but am just not finding it fun or useful.  I have had some success with Facebook and am now trying Google+, which does seem to have a nice interface, but just not enough people are using it yet.

Just an update, this week two events showed that Google still needs Twiiter and that +1 is not nearly as effective yet.

First, Google was not as quick to provide live data regarding Gadhafi's death.  Twitter had information much more quickly.  During Michael Jacksons death, Google had instant information from their Twitter feed.

Second, we had a fairly small earthquake on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Google did not have any information within hours of it.  During our previous earthquake Google gave live data via Twitter by the time I had gotten on the computer.
