Today is World Cat Day - Give Your Kitty Extra Hugs Today

In many cultures it’s believed that cats have multiple lives which, of course, isn’t true. Their natural grace and athletic agility sometimes make it appear that they narrowly missed death’s clutches. In Spain, they only believe the cat has 7 lives.

They sure didn’t have many lives in medieval times when they were exterminated because of their supposed attachment to witchcraft.

According to the Humane Society of the US: Today the cat is a beloved pet in the US. Right now it’s outranking the dog. There are approximately 78.2  million owned dogs and 86.4 million owned cats. 60% of dog owners own one dog; 52% of cat owners have two or more. Cats Rule!

Anyone who has a cat (I can’t use the word “owns” because no-one owns a cat) knows how sweet, loving and affectionate they can be. And, they all have different purrsonalities. (I couldn’t resist).

So in honor of your cat (or cats), take time for extra petting today, maybe buy yours a catnip mouse or two. If you are looking for a cat, try The Little Cats Rescue; they have lots.

Remember dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I had to look at those photos twice, Toni.  The cats pictured are nearly identical to two I had several years ago.  The top one, was a female with the name, "Cleocatra" because of the little dark lines emanating from the corner of her eyes.  The cat in the second photo reminds me of "Sampson" because of his long hair.  Only your "Sampson" is a female with the name of "Sasha."  Sampson and Sasha would have made beautiful children together:-)

You're a cat lover or a hater.  I'm a hater.....not many animals that I do dislike, but it's cats.  I do think that it's great that others love em.....I'm just not that kinda guy.  God wired me differently...I will say that I do like them on our farm....but at the house....no way!!!!!  Enjoy your day!

Panama "Jack" thinks everyday is cat day! One of my dogs found him in a nearby field. He was about 5 weeks old and covered in fleas!!  That was almost 2 years ago and he is most definitely ruling the house!
