HARD TIMES
The old barn that I photographed in Denmark, Maine on August 20, 2012 reminded me that even though life presents hardship, better days are ahead. I imagine it took incredible strength and courage to run a farm and every day brought new challenges.
In this photograph, I recognized that in order to seek better things, it takes hard work, family strength, support, problem solving and creative solutions. I would imagine that hard times brought the family together to work as a team and that each member of the family, regardless of size needed to be sensitive to the needs of each other. Clearly, even in conflicted times, challenges are part of the reality of life. Despite all weather conditions and economic conditions, people can pull together, if they try.
When there is love, unity, cooperation, and team work, people can weather the storms and get through anything. Today brings memories of hard times, a hard way of life of generations of people that built the American standard of living without C.A.D. or INTERNET browsing for ideas to build. With a shovel, a pick, and a wheel barrow, they got their hands dirty. Their clothing did not come from places like The GAP; they wore old leather shoes, and holes in their pants. In sickness and in health, our American ancestors achieved excellent results and people with little means, education, or advanced technology prevailed in the hardest of times.
This photograph of the Old Barn, depicts courage and strength. As a REALTOR ® I pledge to provide quality customer service to all my clients.
