In Litchfield County CT we are expecting Sandy to hit. We are hoping (sorry friends south of me) not to get a direct hit, but our coastline will take a beating with flooding and high winds, and Litchfield County is expecting more trouble with high winds and perhaps local flooding of rivers, streams, basements. Bad enough.
I am as ready as I can be although I have yet to fill up my jugs of water. I have food for a power outage, a giant jar of peanut butter and bread a-plenty. I will fill large buckets with water and keep them on the porch for that all important flush (no power, no water...).
Nature sure is funny. She will pound us with a storm of epic proportions and get ready for it by giving us the most awe-inspiring show she can. This was my view this morning, pre-Sandy skies. The sad thing is that up here on my hill the corn has not yet been chopped, as it was last year. Not good as it will most likely mean another lost crop. But it sure is beautiful!
For those in the path of Sandy, I hope you fare well through the ordeal. Stay safe and dry! And last of all.... Pardon my French... SCREW YOU SANDY! My trees are still showing the ill effects of the October 28th storm Mother Nature threw at us last year! And those that were ravaged by Hurricane Ilene have no need for another disaster to be piled upon their heads. But, since I can do nothing I will take photographs, enjoy the time with my family, and pray that I have power....
I hear ya Andrea - it doesn't look good and with a cold weather system to the West this could be a disaster. You photo shows the beautiful calm before the storm. Stay safe - you're in its path!
Its is going to be a couple interesting days the East Coast. . is like playing Russian roulette. .
Red sky at night, sailors' delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning! And how! Your picture captures that perfectly! I'm in VA with family and friends all the way up to Maine. There are an awful lot of us in the line of fire! I hope things are better than forecasted for all of us! So far just a bit breezy here in Richmond and no rain yet. Stay safe!
Good afternoon Andrea. Beautiful pic. Hope Sandy changes her mind and banks right instead of left. Stay safe.
Andrea, we are supposed to be spared the bulk of it,m but south of here it will be tough. Our pails are filled with water as are some gallon jugs. Bring it on
Andrea - Get prepared, stay safe, and live to tell about it. . .Take plenty of pictures. You never know which one of them may become an iconic historic image:-)
Wondered when Sandy pictures would start hitting here. Guess it will be an interesting couple of days.
