High end vinyl flooring | Luxury vinyl in Westchester

high end luxury vinylLuxury vinyl plank and tile is a high end vinyl that looks like real hardwood or tile.  Unlike sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl comes in individual pieces - either large tiles (w/ grout lines) or long planks like wood.  Because they are individual pieces, they look real and most have embossing, so that they have ridges to mimic the look and feel of hardwood graining or natural stone.

There are many advantages to high end luxury vinyl:

1.  Luxury vinyl looks and feels real - The material looks incredible.  Most customers are surprised at how good it looks and how real it feels.  Unlike laminate flooring, which is a floating floor, high end luxury vinyl adheres and glued directly to the floor.  So, it also feels real when you walk on it and it doesn't make that tinny noise nor move underneath your feet like laminate flooring does.

3.  Luxury vinyl is flexible, so it can work well on floors that are uneven - I come across many floors in westchester that are either sloped or uneven and for these types of floors, it's difficult to install tile or laminate on them as they can crack.  But, luxury vinyl can flex and go over the slopes and valleys that your floor may have.  You do need to do some floor prep, but the luxury vinyl can tolerate discrepancies much better than other surfaces.

5.  Luxury vinyl is warmer on your feet than tile - Tile extracts more heat, so it feels much colder.

As the name implies, high end luxury vinyl is not cheap.  It's a high quality material that will last much longer than most other surfaces, and it does require skilled labor.  But, if you have a wavy floor, it will usually be less expensive than installing tile (or even hardwood).  And, you won't need to worry about it if you have a flood or water damage.

High end vinyl flooring/luxury vinyl tile and plank is a wonderful option for a nice look with high durability.

It looks like a perfect alternative to wood flooring in kitchen or living area esp if you have a few pets and young children.

If you can afford the fare and vinyl serves the purpose then go for it. Maybe you could do a post on reclaimed wood that has been made into flooring?

Thank you Debbie. I must say this was an education for me. When I think vinyl. I think cheap and ugly.   I need to upgrade my knowledge of luxury vinyl at my local flooring vendors. We don't see a lot of vinyl in Arizona and when we do, it is not in the luxury market. So I need go investigate further.

Good morning Debbie. I always appreciate high end vinyl. There are so any ceramic floor snobs, I'll never get it. When you drop something on ceramic it's done, on vinyl you have a chance and it's easier on the feet and legs. Great post. Happy New Year!

I have not seen much of these products in my area, but I am sure that people would be happy if they knew that they existed

I thought had actually seen it all when it came to luxury home flooring but I have to admit I've learned something new. I'll have to keep the potential of luxury vinyl flooring in mind for situations appropriate in the homes is still here. Great post!

Good Post

I used this material and it is great.  The hardwood floors look real and some are sandable for repairs.

Debbie,

Love this info!  We put this in a property management home that we manage for the laundy room.  It looks fabulous and you have to work to figure out that it isn't tile.  Much better than the old and worn vinyl.

All the best, Michelle

I'm impressed with the luxury vinyl flooring I've seen in new homes.   Thinking it really cuts down on the "slippery when wet" factor.

I like this idea. I may replace the hardwood in my kitchen because it is looking so worn. I don't like ceramic tile. You have given me new hops. Thanks
