Franklin, Tennessee's Dickens of a Christmas
Too good to miss. Of the dozen or so Franklin festivals Dickens of a Christmas is my favorite. Perhaps it is because I have fond memories of the annual "A Christmas Carol" play by Dickens throughout my school years or the many wonderful renditions of this story, including the one that featured Mr. Magoo as Scrooge. But of all the Christmas stories after the Nativity, this one rings true to me.
While walking around historic downtown Franklin is always heartwarming. It is exciting at the same time. We still need a fresh market so Scrooge can order up the Christmas goose for the Cratchits after his ghostly transformation. Yet everything else is perfect for what is arguably the best Dickens fest this side of the Atlantic.
If you come to downtown Franklin this weekend, enjoy the sights, the sounds, the smells, and the food. Be be sure to have a fried doughnut (my favorite treat), whether it is with hot coffee, chocolate or spiced cider. If you can't make it to downtown, please enjoy the the slides from Dickens of a Christmas past below.
If you happen to be viewing this blog from afar and want to move to Middle Tennessee, or Franklin be sure to follow the links to Homes for Sale. You can find them there in all sizes and price ranges.
For you and yours during this season remember Tiny Tim's blessing, "God bless us, every one!"
