One Annual Goal Accomplished -
Last night ended with a sigh of relief! In this business, there are days like that, and I'm sure you've experienced this, too. Sometimes it's because we have had a truly crazy day, filled with showings and calls and the like. But this time, I was glued to my desk for hours on end, working diligently to complete one of my 2014 "long term" goals.
Each year, I write a list of goals in my business plan. Some are simple and can be done sooner rather than later, while others are kinda "out there." This was one goal that I didn't think I'd complete as quickly, so it made the "out there" list.
As luck would have it, a day and a half of time opened up so on to this "out there" long term goal. I just completed all 3 sessions to earn my NAR GREEN designation at 9 pm last night! Woo hoo! And since I scored pretty high, I can say with certainty, "I doubt NAR will turn me down!" Still you can't use their logo or market yourself until you get the official "green light!"
The course wasn't as difficult as I had imagined, partly because I earned my EcoBroker designation 6 years ago. Having volunteered with USGBC since 2009 and rubbing elbows with these pros at conferences, trade shows, and events I felt fairly comfortable jumping into the course, studying and testing my knowledge of People, Planet and Prosperity.
Why would I endeavor to pursue another green designation? My reasoning is two-fold. I finally caved to earn this designation so it will show up on Realtor.com. Second, because I just took a listing that is UBER GREEN and I wanted to showcase it as much as possible. All of my studying is a great refresher from a different perspective on the same subject. I will continue to renew both designations as that is my niche.
Still, it is a huge sigh of relief as once I made the commitment to do it, I knew there was no turning back. Hip hip horray!!
