Balance or Balancing?

"I'm Seeking Balance"...You ever say that? Or the "as soon as I get this done..." statements we make? As soon as I get my database updated, I'll finally have balance in my business? " As soon as I get my son off to college...", etc.

Well, I used to make those statements too, until I realized that "balance" implies a destination we somehow arrive at, and then we're done. When in fact, I've realized, I find more peace in realizing- life is more of the process of balance-ing, and balance is not a destination where we arrive. You seeit is the "ING " in balancing that actually made me stress less, because I realized it'll never be perfect balance, but I can "perfect practice" balancing my 5 circles of life: Business, Finance, Personal, Family & Spiritual. That knowledge of "close enough", because things are always changing, sometimes in more than one cirle at once.

Oh the perfectionist will hate this theory, it syas we're never done. However, if you are truly honest with yourself, when have you ever really had all 5 circles of life in perfect sync? Rarely if ever in my life, but it's a good life regardless, because the act of balancing keeps my attention on each area with more intent, without the stress of "perfection".

Good morning, Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor  every real estate agent should read this post and think about what you've said....there is NO perfect work style and the best anyone can do is attempt to create some balance in their personal life and within their business.....

Thank you Barbara. Yes, we'll always have to make adjustments here and there, but we can have our boundaries and our time managed with our goals in mind, we just need to allow for the change that always hits us and keeps "true 100% balance" a goal, but not a destination. I guess what I'm saying is we need to make the effort, but also give ourselves some grace :)

Great points!  I think that balancing is a better way to look at life. I am continously finding differnt ways to balance between family and work.  I find that a lot of time the little things really make the difference in life. Thanks for sharing,

One of thegreatest things I ever learned for the balancing of work/family: take a set day off and set & protect your boundaries. When you are at work, work! When you're at play, play! And never combine the two, so you'll enjopy both because of the focus. I have not worked a Sunday in 7 years and I've only lost or referred out 5 clints in that time becuase of it. All my great clients respect it and in fact appreciate that I recharge with my family once per week, so I'm at my best for them. I'm also in the top 5% ofsales in my office the last 3 years, so 6 days a week is enough.

I just posted on my fb this beautiful quote: '' Ego says: Once everything falls into place, I will find peace. Spirit says: Find peace and everything will fall into place''

That's right Inna, too many people say I'll study when..., I'll prepare when..., I'll change my attitude when.... When in in fact the time to do that is now so the "even" they are waiting on can actually happen. Excellent living is blessed, mediocre living is overlooked until it's meeting it's full potential. Nice quote too!
