History of a Painting - The Lerner Theatre Neon Sign.
Elkhart, Indiana
The Lerner Theatre, formerly the ELCO, was renovated in recent years to its current glory in downtown Elkhart, Indiana.
Every year the Midwest Museum of American Art hosts the Juried Regional Art Show, held at the museum. The regional area includes 22 counties from northern Indiana and Southern Michigan and is known to be the the highest cash awards show in the State of Indiana. Approximately 200 works are selected from hundreds of artisans applying to be in the show, which runs from September to December. This is one of the paintings that I painted, which was selected for the show in 2014.
The Lerner features plays, concerts, performances, musicals and movies. The Lerner has banquet rooms for many types of festivities and gatherings.
I decided to paint the Neon Sign that proudly marks the building on Main Street in Elkhart. I enjoyed being a part of this prestigious show and plan to include future paintings that I will enter into the competition.
