DO OVER ---
Lots of opinions about that topic ...
For several weeks, I have puzzled over this Challenge topic presented by Grant Schneider. I guess I finally decided how to reply - just free-form thoughts.
- If you ever followed Abraham-Hicks, you know the phrase "You can't get it wrong because you never get it done."
- Quite compatible with Steve Jobs' comment: "Just ship it."
- Seth Godin picked up on those thoughts and wrote about "The Road to Imperfection"
The Challenge from Grant Schneider :
Tell us about a business goal or action that didn’t work out and how you did it over correctly the second time. Tell us about your mistakes and challenges and how you eliminated them the second time.
BUT --- wait --- what if I am taking advice from Barbara Todaro who says "If at First You Don't succeed, Dump the Idea - Not always a Do-Over"?
I guess my big real estate mistake was not drilling down to a proper niche as Brad Andersohn and Bob Stewart suggested many years ago when I started in 2010. It actually took me YEARS to realize that I couldn't do everything that each Client requested from me.
How did I come to that realization? LOL - a major part of the resolution was the impossibility of getting around in Atlanta TRAFFIC!
Atlanta is big - well, what is called Atlanta is big - the actual city limits are not. Take a look at this map ---
Now my goal is to further restrict my Client Service
area to inside the Perimeter around Atlanta.
The other thing I want to do differently in 2017 is be more consistent using my Contact Relationship Management system, IXACT Contact.
Same old same old joke:
Which is the best CRM? The one you actually use consistently!
Ixact Contact is the one I settled on ...
Really great - offers so many different capacities at a very low cost. The CRM is so easy to use - almost like a 3x5 card file. Here's the most amazing thing - ONE account for the entire office or team - more than one user can be on the same account. (Our system is to have each person enter data to his/her own "group" so sorting is very simple.)
In addition - the features offered are so extensive I cannot list them all. Immediate entry when you add a person to your smartphone and my favorite feature - immediate entry of leads when they arrive online.(Support will coach you on that connection.)
Email data is superb: email open rate and click-thru rates as well bounce tracking for mass mailings. IXACT Contact offers a newsletter that can be personalized. The IXACT Contact instructional videos are clear and short.
The support staff is consistently wonderful. If you know how to make a CSV file (Comma Separated Values file) to send to Support, they even help with the set-up for you. (The link is to a YouTube CSV explanation.)
HERE ARE MY 2017 DO-OVERS:
- I am going to become more consistent with using my CRM.
- I am going to stay within the Perimeter when I get Client calls.
DISCLAIMER: Although I do not accept money from IXACT Contact for myself, I am an IXACT Contact "affiliate" which means they pay a small amount for each person using my sign-up. I didn't feel comfortable "earning" money on something I was suggesting people use. Each December, they send whatever is in my account directly to a school in Virginia.
