When I was in 6th Grade, my teacher had us make
a Vision Board.
It was 1979 and I was introduced to goals by this project.
I have no clue what I put on that board ...
except this:
it was covered in photos several photos of
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet
Yep, the plan was to join the Navy and fly jets.
My grandfather on my Dad's side was a WWII pilot and the flew for United Airlines and I always wanted to be like him. Well, my Navy career was to never be, due to a severe accident. (Most folks don't know I'm partially and permanently "disabled", I never speak of it and it's rarely caught).
Maybe one day I'll blog about it?
My bride with her fly-boy 2015
But, prior to and since my accident, I have always flown planes. I flew my first plane, a Piper Cherokee when I was 10 years old. I also flew Piper Tomahawks and Cessna 172's ...and still do to this day.
This video is of my 2015 flight over the
La Jolla Coastline and my beloved UTC where my home and real estate office is
(see photo below).
I typically fly once per year with an instructor and have been lucky enough to do it both over the
San Francisco Bay, including Alcatraz, The Golden Gate Bridge and through the SFO flight path as well as over the beautiful La Jolla Coastline, Mission Bay and Mexican Border. One day I'll take the rest of my exams and ground school and get licensed. But, divorce, remarriage, having a son in college and the Great Recession have kept me conservative on spending the money more than one "birthday" flight per year for now.
5,000 feet above San Diego
University Towne Centre (UTC-La Jolla) from my cockpit. This is where I live and keep my real estate office.
I've also been known to jump out of planes at 13,000 feet and free fall
for 60 seconds at 120 MPH...oh yeah!
Oh by the way, August is my Active Rain anniversary month,
it's been 9 years in The Active Rain for me this month!
I appreciate all my
friends here and referral partners.
I even enjoy you scalawags that I
debate and butt heads with...it keeps it saucy!
